He didn't have to wait long for his first ride, but unfortunately the driver was heading north up Route-27 to Damascus.  Soon, though, Marty didn't think it very unfortunate when he learned that most of Montgomery County's finest lived in the small city. He gleaned that sitting nervously next to off-duty Officer Howard who lectured him on the dangers of hitchhiking.  The good patrolman dropped him at the Mobil station Marty affirmed he needed to get to and pick up his ailing Toyota Celica.

He found a more favorable ride from a scientist at NIH who was heading down 270 to Rockville.

"Rockville?  Yeah, where at?"

"Montgomery College. I've got an acting class to get to and my car's kaput."

He couldn't wait to see his old acting coach, Mrs. Forelli.  Not only did she have the costumes and props he would need, she also had a hot daughter he hadn't seen since he almost graduated.  What a **** I am, he thought.  On top of everything that I'm up against, I'm thinking about being up against and on top of her.  He giggled out loud.

"What's that?" the scientist wondered.

"Sorry, nothing.  I'm just getting into character."
