The story so far:
Sybil noticed the plants in Todd's cubicle as soon as she walked into the office.
Initially startled at the clothes the man was wearing, green plaid pants, an off white button collar, short sleeve shirt with a plastic pocket insert full of pens and pencils and a bow tie; Sybil looked at his face and smiled.
Sure is a geeky looking guy with those clothes and big, black horn-rimmed glasses, but he looks harmless - kinda cute, in a way. "Good morning! My name is Sybil, I work just down the hall and I couldn't help noticing your plants. They're beautiful."
The geek jumped as soon as Sybil spoke but quickly recovered. His eyes, huge behind the glasses, darted from her face to the floor and back again. "Uh...oh....hello...umm, my name is Todd. I...I...know you w-work ..."
Holy cow, I really shook this poor guy up. I better not try to shake hands, he'll likely have a heart attack! Sybil thought. Instead she diverted his attention. "I couldn't help but noticed these lovely plants! I've just become a plant owner myself. In fact, I have an ivy very much like this one." Sybil reached forward and gently caressed the ivy.
Nick's the name. Pleased to meet you, too!
Sybil took a quick step back, jerking her hand away at the same time. Her eyes darted from the plant to Todd, questioning what she'd just heard.
From the corner of her eye she saw the other plant, she didn't know what it was, lean towards the ivy. Lean? Did that plant just lean?
My goodness, Nick, she's as beautiful as Todd said!
Sybil whirled toward Todd. "Your a ventriloquist, right? That was amazing how you did that!"
Surprised, Todd responded, "No, no...it wasn't me. The plants. The plants talk and you heard them."
He stopped suddenly, eyes even bigger and mumbled, "My god, she heard them!"
