The story so far:
The first real inclination that I was on to something came when I mentioned that expectation and perception were vital keys to the problem. She asked me why I'd said that and I replied, "Have you ever heard of the quantum theory that says, 'observation of an action, changes the result'?"
She shook her pretty head - no, and then aloud, "No, I can't say that I have." She chuckled a bit and continued, "In fact, I'm not sure I even understand what that means. What does it mean - to you?"
Some people get pretty irked at shrinks and their inevitable questions to your questions. Not me. I understood how that worked and actually appreciated the methodology of it. It forces you to reevaluate what you're talking about. I thought about the theory for a minute or so and said, "First, you have to understand some additional theories involved. For example, expectation and perception - and, that all matter, at its basist level is energy. Think electricity. No, better yet, think radio waves. You can't see them, you can't feel them, but you can hear them when converted to a wavelength and decibel level receptive to the ear."
I looked at her to see what effect that statement had and was surprised to see her eyes narrowed and her head nodding in understanding. Later, I would understand that mimic better but, at the time, I enjoyed what appeared to me to be comprehension.
"So, the human brain emits energy waves and what generates those energy waves are thoughts - ideas. Are you with me?"
She pursed her lips and nodded. I smiled and went on, "Here's where expectation and perception come in. Your thoughts are projected into, or better yet, out in to the universe. A universe full of unfathomable numbers of energy wave thoughts and ideas. Your energy waves interact with the others and create a response. The Law of Universal Attraction takes over..."
She uncrossed her beautiful, shapely legs and leaned forward. She leaned so far forward that I got a great shot of her cleavage. Locking her eyes to mine, she said, "You've lost me, Jacob. How does that work and what is this 'law of universal attraction'?"
I propped myself up on my elbows, which brought me much closer to the lovely view of her breasts; in fact, I could now see everything except her nipples, still hidden by the edge of her black, lacy bra. I regretted it immediately, but I couldn't help but lick my lips - which she, of course, saw. Quickly, I said, "It's not what you might be thinking Doc."
She leaned back and her raised eyebrows told me that she didn't believe it was anything other than what I was thinking. Still propped on my elbows, I hastily added, "the law of attraction simply means that your thought, your energy waves attract similar. For example if were to think, "I am rich. I am so thankful to be rich beyond imagination and, at the same time, believe that I am truly rich or that money is coming to me; I will attract money. I will attract the universal energy that provides me with everything that I want."
Clearly, I had gotten off track and Doctor Fürst crossed her legs again as she lowered her head and gave me a look that said, this guy is finally off his rocker.
I slumped back, closed my eyes and raised my hands, palm up. "Okay, okay. Let me start over. If you expect something to be or something to happen and you can perceive that occurence in your mind; if you can do that without any doubts at all that what you expect and perceive will come to be - it will physically manifest itself."
I opened my eyes and looked at her. Once again, she had that pensive look and I gave her a few seconds to sort her thoughts before continuing. "So, that's the clue to the Zombie Killer that I've been looking for. I expected not to die. I perceived my body as still being alive, even after my soul departed and doctors pronounced me dead. Putting these theories to practical application, immediately after death, I became a....Zombie."
