The story so far:
… ducked into the plants and started home.
Her Step-Mother and Step-Sisters arrived just after she had. All they could talk about was how beautiful the mysterious Princess was and how mysteriously she had ran off, leaving the Prince a starry eyed man.
Cinderella just patted the pocket of her dress knowing the other glass slipper was there and that she was that mysterious Princess.
Two days went by when down the streets came the Prince and the Royal Duke. News traveled before them, that they were looking for the woman who belonged to the slipper. Everyone had to try it on.
Oh, what a mass rush the Step-Sisters and Step-Mother made to look their best. Even Cinderella fixed her hair.
“Go to the kitchen, Cinderella,” her Step-Mother told her. “the help is not expected to try on that slipper.”
“But it was me,” Cinderella thought as she walked to the kitchen. The Royal Duke entered the house and her Step-Sisters tried to put the glass slipper on. Even though a foot was the same size or smaller then the glass slipper, the glass slipper refused every foot.
The Prince was disappointed with the results of the search, and went around the house to the garden to sit.
Cinderella could see him through the window in the kitchen and her heart went out to him. She decided to get a cool drink for him and took it to him.
He sat on the garden bench, his head down.
“Your Majesty,” Cinderella said with a curtsey, “would you like a cool drink?”
“You! Oh I’m sorry, I thought you were, oh never mind. Yes thank-you,” he stumbled on his words as he took the glass and drank it. He handed the glass back to her and asked. “Have you tried on the slipper?”
