            Cinderella’s father died and she found out that she was alone in her grief.  Her father didn’t leave her with much money to live on, and without him to manage his income it soon dried up and Cinderella had to sell the manor and go and find a job.        

She found a position in a wealthy family’s home, as a maid and she worked very hard.  They treated her like family at times and they loved her laughter and singing.

One day a Royal Invitation went out that decreed that all eligible women of the kingdom must attend a Royal Ball.  The family she worked for was very excited.

            She was disappointed when she realized that she was unable to afford a gown.  She thought of asking for an old dress that she could make over, but found that she was too frightened to ask.

            On the night of the ball, Cinderella helped the others get ready and felt so left out that she went to the garden to cry.
