The story so far:
He kept dreaming of thunder, lightening, hail and windy rain as he slept, but through his sleep-fogged brain, he realized that what he was hearing was the herd of clouds, hail, lightening and wind talking excitedly about their plans for Donna, Texas. As he gradually woke up, he saw that they were ready to move out. By the time he got fully awake and ready to join them, they were already quite a distance from him. He hurried as fast as he could and an hour later, he finally caught up with them. He couldn't go as fast as them, as he still had to hide from them all, for fear he'd be sent home. But, suddenly he felt himself being jerked up from his hiding place. Startled, he looked up into the wizened face of the oldest and strongest cloud, who happened to be his very own father. "Just what are you doing here, Stormy?" , he thundered. "Don't you know how very worried your mother and sisters must be"? Stormy was very, very sad. He didn't want to hurt or worry his mother, his sisters on the other hand, could care less, he figured. He looked so crestfallen and sad that his dad picked him up and held him close. "Well, you already went this far, you might as well go the rest of the way."
He asked one of the older members of the wind clan if he wouldn't mind going back and letting his mother know where he was. Since he was running out of wind anyway, he readily agreed. He immediately headed back north at a fast clip, since he secretly was glad to head home. In a couple of hours the herd crossed the Texas border and stopped to rest for an hour or so, before they continued on their journey. Stormy, the little thundercloud was so happy that he didn't have to hide anymore, that he was jumping around and playing; practicing his thundering voice. Finally, his dad told him that he'd better rest while he could as they still had quite a long trip ahead of them. Besides, he was getting on the nerves of the rest of the herd; as evidenced by their grumbling and rumbling. The hail was starting to shoot out little ice pellets, they were so irritated. But after Stormy settled down, they too calmed down and tried to conserve the rest of their ice supply. After two hours of resting, they decided to go on their way. All along the way, Stormy kept asking, "Are we there yet?" His dad was getting grumpier and grumpier having to answer, "NO!!!", that his voice was starting to sound louder and louder; until it was booming. Just as the rest of the herd were about to hang Stormy on a nearby mountain, they saw a sign saying that Donna, Texas was only 20 miles away!!!
