"Andy Williams And The Boy Of Company B: Chapter 3 Rivised"  by whisper55
When I opened my eyes I was blinded by a bright light. When I tried to move I realized I was tied down and still wore the muzzle.

My mouth felt like and tasted like sour cotton. As my eyes became use to the light, I realized I was in a building that had been set up as a field hospital.

A nurse came over and I quickly shut my eyes. I could hear her pen scratch as she wrote in her notes.

I didn’t hear him come up, so I was surprised to her a male’s voice. “Nurse Lynn, what can you tell me about this patient?”

“He’s not one of ours, Doctor, and even though he was found with an eaten corpus, he hasn’t the usual symptoms like the others.

“Tell me more Nurse.“ I could hear the uneasiness in the Doctor’s voice.

“His red blood count was normal, not replicating rapidly like the others. His heart rate is up but not by much. If he’s changing, there’s no proof of it.”

I decided to let them know I was awake so I slowly opened my eyes. The Doctor noticed I was awake first.

He open my eyes wider and looked at them with a pen light, while I tried to ask where Charlie was, but of course no words could get passed the muzzle.

I pulled at the restraints and shouted as loud as I could, which got me no where.

The Doctor frowned, “The other ones  isn’t showing any signs of change  yet either, but that doesn’t mean they won’t.”

“We have had some who are immune, Doctor.”

“Yes and we had some who just takes longer to change, nurse.” He wrote more in his notes. “We can’t take any chance with him until we know for sure.”

Turning away he said, “Continue to draw blood every hour and keep a close watch on him, for at leased another twenty four hours.”

The nurse said, “Yes, Doctor.”

I looked around as much as I could.  There was at least twelve beds in the room and all of them were full. As hard as I tried to see, I couldn’t tell if Charlie was in the room, or not.

Suddenly a wild scream erupted from the bed nearest me. “Please Don’t let it touch me!”

I could see the mans face, his eyes appeared to budge out of his head. His skin worked like something was crawling beneath it.

The same nurse hurried over and gave him a shot. He tried to grab at her that’s when I realized he was restrained too.

He fought the restraints as the guy in the next bed yelled, “Get me out of here, he’s changing.”

She turned to the other bed, “It’s okay, the sedative will take effect any moment.”

The man fought against his own restraints. “Not if he fully changes ,” He was angry, “The sedative or restrains won’t hold him then.”

After the nurse left the man noticed me watching him. “Let me go.” I never harmed anybody. It’s all a mistake.”

The guy in the next bed snarled, “Don’t listen to him, he ate half of his regiment.”

“That ‘s not true,” The guy next to me yelled. “One of them things ate them.  I’m lucky to be alive myself.”

“Yeah, “ the other guy said. “And do you think he’s Mary Poppins, laying there all tied up and muzzled.” Then he glared at me. “How many did you eat before they got you.?”

I mumbled angered at his words and angered by the fact that I couldn’t get loose and kick his Britt  ****.”

I kept running over in my mind what the thing had said about being the boys from company B.

If I could get to a computer I could look some stuff up. I tugged at my restraints but quickly realized I wasn’t going to get free by brut force.

I waited patiently for the nurse to come back to draw my blood. I must of dozed off  despite the loud mouth in the next bed and  the restraints chaffing at my wrists and ankles.

She smiled as she dapped the alcohol on the vein at the bend of my arm. “This will only sting a little.” It stung like hell causing me to remember why I didn’t like needles.

I managed to mouth the word water so she could understand. She frowned and shook her head but when I said please, she glanced at the others.

She took my muzzle off, “I don’t see why you should be the only one muzzled.”

The first thing I ask was about Charlie. She said there wasn’t anyone that fit that description but she’d ask around.

I ask if she had time to hear my story. “Give me about an hour to do my rounds and I’ll come back and hear your story.”

The water tasted so good, I guzzled it down all most choking but I knew that there was no way she’d let me have my hands free.

As she walked away I decided to try to get some answers from the guys in the next beds.

“Hey,” I yelled, “My names Andy, who are you guys.?”

The guy in the next bed said, “I’m Weston of the Cutters Brigade.” The guy in the other bed said, “I’m John, Yank.”

“Can any of you guys tell me what’s going on?”

Weston said, “My men and I were out guarding the perimeter when we heard something heavy moving in the trees.”

“Don’t you mean through the trees?”

“No, I mean up in the trees. So we were looking up and suddenly my men began to screams. Myself and the rest of the troop headed back towards them expecting to find that they were being attacked.”

“What we found was whole sale slaughter.”

“We still thought it was you Yanks, using some kind of new weapons.”

“Then a big glob of blood fell down on Wally’s face. When we saw what was in the tree we froze.”

“It attacked and only three made it out alive. None of us made it out without scars.”

“That’s the reason we are tied to these cots.”

“Why?” I ask still puzzled.

The guy in the next bed laughed, “Well yank,. There’s something in those things blood.” He shook the bed like a crazy person, “Within forty eight hours we turn in to one of those things.”

He glared at the guy next to me, “It’s already been forty seven and some minutes for him.” He shook his fist at Weston, “That’s right isn’t it boy.” He turned to me, “He’ll snap those restraints like rubber bands.”

He sounded even crazier as he laughed again, “He already has the signs. One, the sedative isn’t working and two, he stinks, I mean he really stinks.”

Yeah, I realized I was smelling rotten flesh with a little bit of that alien odor I’d smelled in the bakery.

I’d been smelling it all along.

I remember what I had felt when that thing was in the bakery with us. I felt like it was taking me over.

It didn’t feel like it was putting anything in my blood. It felt like it was really taking me over .

I’d lost time too.

Something wasn’t right. I need loose and I needed a computer. First I had to get someone to turn me loose.

The others were tied to their beds and if the guy next to me got loose it would mean he was one of those things. I didn’t think that would be much help to either of us..

That left the Doctor or the nurse and I knew the Doctor wouldn’t let me go. So that left the nurse.
