Wheels: Chapter One (draft)

Sweat rolled down the sides of his brown chest. He panted heavily into the air around him. Though his eyes remanined closed, he was sure he knew what he would see when he opened them. Darkness.
He wasn't quite afraid of it. In, fact he was used to it. Not a night went by that he had not faced darkness. The unknown. The abyss. It had been a constant companion for him over the years, way after other things had faded away.
He even welcomed the visions. There was never really any features to the faces, but he knew what they were. He stared with his mind's eye, curious about their form and why after so long they were still there.
