He eternally saw a field of white before him and let out a small smirk. Snow, nature's greatest form of purity..but to him it was nothing more than a cover; another one of the world's illusions. He glanced down at the townspeople and sighed at the naive fools, that for a brief moment thought that the world was at peace in the quietness of the falling snow. "Maybe.." he thought to himself.
"Maybe the world needs this comfort..a comfort of knowing that there is a brighter future..a time where they can let go of the burdens of the world."
"But i can never have this comfort.."
His eyes flickered to the ground near his feet where the blood splatter was quickly being hidden by the accumulating snow. Letting out a small laugh, he brushed his fingers down the sword he was holding and let a few drops of deep, red blood fall to the ground. He admired the beauty of what was once pure white, was now tainted with blood. Slipping the sword into it's sheathe he began to walk away. His shadow fuzzying and disappearing as a rage of swirling snow rushed past.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Walking down the isolated corridor he sighed and brushed his hand through his medium, jet black hair.
"I'm finally back" he thought to himself.
Suddenly sensing something he looked around, his midnight colored eyes flashing. It was too quiet. He continued walking down the hallway, glancing around at his surroundings. A mischievous grin came from behind him and a pair of green eyes sparkled. Within a second flat a pair of long legs lashed out at his own legs causing him to crumple to the ground;a perfect sweep kick.
"WHAT THE?!" he burst out as he stared up at the ceiling.
He turned his head and looked over at the 17 year old that had mercilessly thrown him to the ground. He was slender but strong with a skill that exceeded average in martial arts. The boy closed his eyes and chuckled, his soft, white hair sweeping over into his face. He opened his eyes and began to walk over. The long, black jacket trailing behind him; the black army boots making almost no noise against the marble surface.
"Ethan"
"Damn..i should've known it was you..you're the only one capable of sneaking up on me like that."
Ethan smirked and stooped down next to him.
"Or maybe old age is finally catching up with you, Fui."
He gave Fui a wide, innocent smile, which Fui knew was nowhere near as innocent as it looked. It was the smile that made Ethan dangerous on the field and dangerous to womans' hearts.
"Hey now..I'm not that old. I'm only a year older than you." Fui calmly replied as he brushed off Ethan's lady-killer smile and rose to his feet.
"Admit it Fui, you're a 25 year old stuck in the body of a 18 year old. Even your thought process and maturity level is way beyond those of a normal teenager."
Fui's eyes flickered, and memories from the past came rushing back.
It was the time when he had first been asked to enter the O-6, an advanced group of assassins, specifically chosen for their fighting skills, academic abilites, but most of all their supernatural powers. The only exception had been him.
Fui bit his lip and slammed his back against the wall as the movie reel of the past few months began to spin in his head.
He had been running. It was pitch black outside and the rain pounded against his body causing his street clothes to cling to his well-toned and slim figure;his hair plastered to his head. Blood trailed down his face and hands as he continued to run, the lamposts and stoplights guiding his way.He turned into an alley, his breathing uneven and painful.
"I'm almost at the end!" Fui gasped out as he ran toward the end of the alley.
Just as he was about to break into the gaze of the city lights,a flash of lightning lit up the dark revealing a line of shadows up ahead. His eyes widened in shock and water splashed around his feet as he skidded to stop.
N-no..they're here..
The lightning flash only lasted for a few seconds, but to Fui it lasted even shorter than that. Dark enveloped the alley again and the next thing he knew, one of the shadows was on him and clutching his throat. Fui let out a strained gasp as the hand's grasp grew tighter and threw him against a dumpster. Another flash.
The man squeezing his throat had wild dark eyes and spiked brown hair.Grabbing the man's wrist he swung his legs out at the man's knees and used the momentum to flip him over his shoulder into the dumpster.Fui's mind blanked and his instincts completely took over. One by one he fought his way through the throng of shadows that attacked him.
"Only one more"
He dove at the figure ahead of him hoping to tackle them to the ground. The figure opened her eyes revealing an ice blue that made Fui's blood run cold. She placed out her hand and Fui's body froze. His knees buckled and he fell to the ground;paralyzed. The figure walked over and Fui gave a pained glance at her as the wind rustled through her hair, giving her the appearance of a goddess with all the motives of the devil himself.
"This wont hurt a bit" she sneered as she rammed the base of her palm into the back of his skull.A shock of electricity filled his head as his vision began to blur.
GRAB HIM.
Those words and the repetitive pattering of the rain against the cement were the last things he heard as his vision completely turned black.
"Fui"
"Fui! Man! Get ahold of yourself!" A powerful punch to the jaw jerked him into the present, where he stared into Ethan's face which was furrowed in concern.
"Dude, are you alright? You suddenly blanked on me."
"Yeah im alright. I'm just tired." Fui replied as he staggered to his feet, just realizing that he had sunk to the floor against the wall.
Ethan sighed, leaped to his feet and folded his hands behind his head as he began to walk off.
"Then go get some rest, man. You seriously need to relax abit you hardass."
"Yeah,yeah,Ethan"
"Catch you later okay,Fui?" He yelled over his shoulder as he sauntered off.
Fui watched as Ethan left and pondered on the words Ethan had said earlier.
"I may not be a normal teenager..but neither are you." He whispered under his breath as he rubbed his jaw slightly, continued down the corridor and turned the dark corner.
