Chapter 1: Deimos
The unnerving silence of the room pierced her ears as she huddled in the far corner;the padded walls sinking into her back. It was dark, but she knew that even if she had opened her eyes she would only be greeted with the onyx fabric of the blindfold that covered them. A loud clank jerked her to attention and she scrambled towards the noise, just in time to feel the thick iron door swing open and someone step inside. She thrashed around in her bounds, trying to release her arms as she felt the padded floor sink with each step of the approaching stranger.

"LET ME OUT!!"

Her arms jerked beneath the tight restraints of the straight jacket as she screamed into the darkness. Senses heightening, she stumbled clumsily to her feet and dashed towards the feeling of cool air. She felt her feet step off the padded floor and slap loudly against chilled concrete. A shrill whistle echoed through the corridor and the pattering of feet rushed towards her from behind.Adrenaline pumped through her as she flew down the hall, feeling hands reaching out from the cells on either side. Behind the blindfold a faint face began to appear, and as her heart raced faster it became more and more distinct.

Deimos...!DEIMOS!

She shouted his name, her voice soon raising into a shrill shriek as the clomping of boots came closer. Her shriek cut off abrutly as she collided into a soft squishy wall that sent her reeling backwards into the arms of a guard.Without hesitation she felt the heat of a dozen people swarm around her trying to hold her down.

"Dammit! Get the needle! The needle!!"

Chaos rose around her as a rush of bodies firmly pinned her down and someone hastily stepped forward, quickly injecting a needle into her thigh .The sedative raced through her bloodstream accelerating faster than usual by her beating heart. Her body began to numb slowly and her struggles for freedom became twitches, as she gazed into her blindfold and watched Deimos's face disappear into fading droplets of color before slipping into unconsciousness.

The blackness dimmed into a dark midnight blue, and as Caiden looked into the sky she saw the first couple stars appear between the darkening clouds. She glanced nervously around her surroundings, quickly scanning the area for cops before glancing over to Bobbie concealed in the bushes near the convenience store. The flourescent lights mixed with the others of nearby buildings settled the area into a false sunlight and Caiden began to itch apprehensively,as she watched drunk men and gossiping ladies amble by.

Psst! Caiden..! Get down you fool! Bobbie whispered urgently through her teeth.

Caiden twisted her head to look back across the deserted street and found her waving her hands frantically, signaling her to get out of the way. She darted behind a car and cautiously peered behind the bumper just in time to glimpse a cop car saunter by. Reeling her head back behind the car she sunk into its shadow and choked down the knot that had collected in her throat. After a few minutes she looked back over the car where the girl had stiffly risen from the bush and was now crouched beside the building.

"Caiden come on"

Caiden walked across the street and stooped by Bobbie where she handed her a pair of wigs and a scarf to cover her face. She hastily slipped them on and adjusted it. As she finished, she looked at Bobbie's face and briefly took in the mop of dark greasy curls that covered her beautifil hay colored hair.

"You ready?" Bobbie asked in a hushed voice.

She tucked her own short brown locks under the reddish heap of hair on her head before whispering back.

"Yeah let's go.."

Bobbie swiftly pulled a gun from a strap on her thigh and dashed through the entrance of the convienience store; she following close on her heels. The intensity of the overhead lights momentarily stunned her as Caiden stepped through the automatic doorway, but she snapped to attention as she heard Bobbie's commanding voice.

"OPEN THE REGISTER!"

The yell made Caiden tingle before she regained her senses and leaped across the counter. An old man with white thinning hair was fumbling with the register. The wrinkles in his forehead were lined with sweat as he clumsily opened it and lifted his hands up slowly as Bobbie pointed her gun at him.Caiden thrusted her hand into the open register, pulling out handfuls of crumpled cash and threw it into a bag she had pulled from her jeans pocket. She blindly continued grabbing the cash and stuffing it in her bag before Bobbie stopped her.

"That's enough! We need to go!"

She groped for one last handful before tying up the bag and racing out the door onto the dimly lit street.
Caiden's heart was beating fast. Her breath came in short rasps as she heard sirens in the distance.

"Split up Caiden! I'll meet up with you at the hideout!"
She watched Bobbie turn into an alley and jump the fence, disappearing into the night.

Caiden was alone. She raced down the street, nimbly dashing through throngs of passing people before she heard the sirens again;this time closer. Her pace quickened and as she practically flew over the sidewalks, the city lights soon bled together into a colored blur.

"No no no! I have to get out of the open" The single thought burned through the others as she turned into a dark alley and threw herself behind a dumpster. Seconds passed while she held her breath and listened as a troop of police cars sped by. She slammed her back against the dumpster and sank to the cold ground in relief, the adrenaline rushing through her system like a virus as her heart continued to pound like a drum.

That was when she first met him.

As the adrenaline continued to course through her she looked up to see a young man standing before her, blankly staring into her face. She jerked back in surprise, wincing as her head banged against the cool metal of the dumpster.

"W-who are you?"

He calmly continued gazing into her eyes, his face emotionless.

"Im Deimos."

Deimos beauty mesmorized her as the wind whipped through his short jet black hair, sending it into a frenzy. His appearance suddenly made her heart race faster and she gripped at her sweatshirt as it pounded against her chest, making her flinch in pain. The suddeness shocked her,but she quickly tried to regain posture before nonchalently looking him in the eyes.

"That's an odd name."

He brushed off her nonchalence and turned away from her as he responded.

"Yeah, but you could say its... special"

He glanced back over his shoulder at her and she saw the smirk that played on his lips. Glimmering white teeth held her attention before he turned back and began walking away.

"H-hey wait!"

Caiden didnt know why she had called out to him,but as he looked back at her the request stuck in her throat. She averted her eyes from Deimos to calm herself but when she looked back up, he was already gone. Clenching her fingers she realized that she was still holding the bag of cash in her hands.

"Damn! I forgot about the money! That guy could rat me out to the police!"
Caiden cursed to herself under her breath as she stuffed the bag under her sweat shirt and hugged it to her body closely before running down the alley. As she reached the end,she looked back into the darkness.A brief thought crossed her mind while she gazed at the dumpster.

"His smile is one that the devil himself would shiver at.."

She hesistated one last time before pushing the thought aside and turning out of the dark alley, into the city lights.

"Caiden Lamarie. Just where the hell have you been?"
A tall girl with bleached hair tied into a messy bun, slammed her hand against the faded wood of a table as she glared at Caiden.
"Yeah, Yeah sorry." Caiden lazily replied as she tossed the bag of money into the arms of Zoey Cline, their gang leader.
"I got held up by something.." She dismissed the topic and threw herself onto a wobbly pew. She peeked at the other girls crowd around Zoey as their leader slowly counted the money and handed each of the 4 girls their share. Caiden sighed deeply and folded her arms behind her head before looking out at the beautiful stained glass windows illuminated by moonlight. Their "hide-out" was a church that had been left abandoned and hidden between the city's skyscrapers. "Its late.. I guess i should be heading out." The thought whirled around her head as she rested for a bit before sitting up and yelling at Zoey.

"Hey Zoey! Im leaving now!" Caiden swung her legs over the side of the pew and rose to her feet."Yeah alright." Zoey murmered after her as Caiden slipped out through the giant oak door and let it close behind her with a bang.It had begun to drizzle. She silently pulled her hood onto her head and tightened it before leaving the peaceful shelter of the church. The sidewalks were almost empty, littered only with a few homeless people gathering pop cans to sell. Caiden strolled down the pavement, her head low to hide from the scrutinizing stares of the few people that passed. She turned into the last district in the heart of Seattle, where the wealthy lived. She continued walking until she came upon a lavish and brightly lit up apartment complex. Caiden tilted her head back to look at the building, and the rain splattered across her face;the building towering so high she couldnt see the top. She nodded to the doorman and walked into the complex. After stepping into the elevator and getting off at the 9th floor, she wearily paused in front of Room #306 before pulling a key from her jean pocket, jammed it into the lock and entering the room.

"Dad, Im home." She called out into the emptyness of the apartment before stripping off her wet shoes and shuffling into the living room. She looked around the room before her eyes fell upon a white note left on the table;ignoring it she went to her room and flopped on her bed.

"I guess he wont be home again." She rolled onto her back and stared at the ceiling where thin lines of moonlight were cast upon it,from the half-opened blinds. Caiden's mind wandered to the earlier events of that day. To the handsome, but mysterious guy she had met in the alley. His devious smile had allured her. "I hope i get to see him again soon." She whispered the secret to the ceiling before drifting off to sleep.

At dawn, Caiden slipped into fresh clothes before leaving the apartment. She decided she would skip classes and with that she raced off down the crowded sidewalks to the abandoned church. When she arrived she realized that no one would be there yet. Taking deep breathes she strolled out of the double doors on the other side of the room to the courtyard. The courtyard was a tangle of wild rose bushes and ivy crawling up the dilapidated side of the old building. A marble fountain covered in moss stood elegantly in the middle.

This was where she came to think. It had been the first place she had went to after joining Zoey's gang.
