Your talent was honed from the beginning. I took a peek here just to see if any old heads had posted, came across your name bro. At first I thought the "homecoming" meant back to SM. Its funny how titles can mean something totally different.

This was good, by the way. hope you are well.

I see you still are continuing on...I am always glad to see fellow ancients still posting. I have something new which I will post in a week or so...called "Sue and Dr Brezner."
Always a pleasure djinndarme.

Hey djinndarme,

I see why Nash picked your submission as the start chapter.

I have always envied your ability to convey a story that captures a reader's attention. Great lead off here. Your characters are all people we have seen before. Nash's critique nailed it(seems as if he always does...I really am beginning to think he is a genius)and your chapter has everything needed for the beginnings of a great story.

Job well done.

Hey Regz, you are dead on when you mentioned evoking emotion. And that is just what you did here. You captured the nervousness and anxiety of what love can feel like for a person.

Very powerful read.

Thanks Nash. Actually, I already have a draft chapter started. I will make this idea a project, do some more extensive research, and post for a few writers to join in.
But I will wait until after all of the current projects are finished or coming to a close.

Reason being because I would like to have you involved, consultation wise and as a fellow masher.

Regz, anybody can write a story. Please don't misinterpret my comment above. I can nonchalantly put words together and create something. What I mentioned above was writing something worth reading. Sometimes we all get stuck.
Even the great Stephen King has suffered from the block, and that is why you see so many writers come and go, then come back to this site. We are not greatly familiar with each other, but not to brag I am a well known writer here, with a few people who enjoy my work. Creating quality work was my point, because it means something to me.

That's why it is good to have writers like crystalfoo and nashvillebecker because they shoot from the hip when they critique work sparing no punches. They and others are one of the reasons I am back.

Don't think that I gave up on myself. Never that. My juices ran low, but they have always simmered. Thanks for responding.

It has been almost a year and a half since I was a major contributor to any storylines on SM. I fell back, most in part out of missing all of you once the fallout of everyone slowly disappearing began. I once spoke with writerwannabe in an email about how much I missed all of you, and how I wished we all would come back together again. I personally love this site, even though I am in agreement with Nash about Ethan. Things could be so much better. That stated, I want to mention that at one point in my life I was feeling like I was all out of ideas, that I had lost my ability to write anything worth reading. Those feelings still linger sometimes. I need to know that I still have a fire burning inside. Deadlines have always inspired me to write better and keep my word. When I had none, I was more liable to procrastinate. While contributing to a chapter a month randomly may not be wise of me to commit at this point, I will find some stories to mash and work on completing chapters as the spirit moves me, starting with A Modern Horror, which I am currently reading each chapter over time.

But one promise i will make, and that is I will stay committed to any projects or mashes that I am asked to contribute to. I hope that I will be included in future mashes from you all.

Maybe I have no right to interfere here, but I would love to see something come together that is more real to life than fantasy. I have been watching shows like Doomsday Preppers and such, and personally would love to see something like that expressed in a story. Start with an idea of how it all started, maybe because of an EMP strike, whether nuclear detonated in outer space or caused by a solar flare, or an economic collapse, causing panic in the streets. Something. Tell of a family forced to bug out from their location, trying to make it to a bunker some 300 miles away they have stocked with supplies. Fill the story with emotion, violence, death, love, compassion. Things that they encounter before, during, and after whatever type of disaster strikes. How people thought they were crazy, how they planned and prepared,(taking shooting lessons at a range, food storage, hand to hand combat, practicing evacuation drills, etc).

I have worked with most of your selection Nash, and I truly believe something like that would make for a fantastic story. Just my thoughts, no hard feelings otherwise.
