Atlantic City: Black-eyed Susan  by the-swamp

It took Smitty a moment to register in his mind what he was seeing on the dusty 10" set. The reporter's voice was incomprehensable over the ringing, shouting clammor of the station, but the image was clear. Two men in white hazmat suits where struggling to get a gurney through the narrow doors of some sort of portable office building. The picture was blurred & shakey as the camera men jostled to get their lenses through the police barrier.
"Hey everyone! Smitty's here, lets quiet it down, huh?!" Shouted a voice from the back. Everyone settled down immediately & suddenly the room was quiet except for the ringing of a phone from the Sheriff's office in back. Smitty was standing stiffly in the middle of the muggy room with Bales shifting uncomfortably at his side. The picture on the set settled & became more clear as the reporter's southern drawl emerged through the bustle at the scene.
"We're here at the Camdon County Elementary School right outside the quiet town of Cherry Hill where local resident Susan Groverland was found brutally murdered in on of the schools portable classrooms." Smitty face bunched up around his nose like he had smelt something horrid.
"The body was found earlier this morning by school janitor David Langsly who has agreed to talk with us." The camera clipped to a short bearded man.
"David, what do you have to say about all this?"
David removed his white cap, rubbed his head nervously & replaced it.
"Hwell, I jes never thaut I'd ever see anythin like that here 'round Cherry Hill. Known the lady even, sister to Smitty Groverlun, ol High School buddy uh mine." David removed his hat again looking at his feet,
"Her body was covered in the blue paint we use to touch the trip up with. But her blood was runnin all out er wounds & makin it purple." His body was shaking now. "He, he, who, who ever it wus, writ on the walls in thar. Somthing... just down-right creepy." He turned as if someone was watching him.
"It said, 'Blood is blue', jes like that, all in that blue paint..." The reporter nodded sympathetically.
"You heard it folks, lock your gates tonight, there's a deranged killer about Camdon County. We'll keep you posted with any new developments, back to you Todd"
