Can anyone remember back in the day when trucks came into the nieghborhood emitting white smoke into the air? and all the kids would run behind having a great time running in and out of the smoke? Does anybody remember when the ice cream man would come down the street and every kid in the hood would come running hollering ICE CREAM MAN! ICE CREAM MAN! and he would turn the corner like he didn't even see the kids and make them chase his truck like little dogs running in packs. Does anyone remember when the TV went off, that awful sound that came after that would wake you up?Does anyone remember when it rained the crawdads that would follow? and the frogs that would appear in the yard croaking like crazy? Does anyone remember when gasoline was 55 cents a gallon and we would fill up and ride till we ran it out and then went and filled up again? Do you remember when in a little town all there was to do was drive to the edge of town and turn around and drive back? Do you remember when vac salesmaen would come to the door and try to sell their wares? How about when someone would come to the door and ask questions about how many people lived in the house and what was the ages of the kids and all kind of nosy questions we just simply answered anyway?
Do you remember when going fishing we got our bait from the ground or caught crickets or grasshoppers? Does anyone rember the old greyhound buses that were double deckers? Does anyone remember when mom would go to the grocery store and come back with twenty bags of groceries and complained that she spent over forty dollars? Does anyone remember the station wagon with the fake wood panels up front? Do ya remember when getting eggs meant going to the hen house and collecting them? DO you remember being awakened by a rooster crowing every morning? Does anybody remember the ugliness of popping a chickens neck before having to pluck the feathers off in hot scalding water? WHo remembers his or hers first kiss, first love note handed out in class, first fight, and first best friend? Who remembers the very first time they feel in love? and the first time they got hurt.
Who remembers the first person in their family that died, and going to their very first funeral? and the scariness of everybody crying and yelling, and falling out.Who can think back on the first family reunion where they didn't know anyone at all but their immeadiate family. Who remembers back on the first time going to church and listening to the preacher seemingly talking about him or her? and stealing money from the offering plate. Who remembers their first beating, That very first time feeling the pain of a belt or switch? Who remembers getting their very first puppy? and the love you felt for it, and the pain of losing it when it died. Who can think back when they got their first car, and got to drive it to school for the first time.Who remembers walking across the stage of their graduation and wondering if they would ever see their freinds again.
