The majority of the people diving into this class so they can pass the AP exam and not stress over the class in college. I on the other hand am not engaging this class for that particular reason. My motivation for approaching this class is self-provoked. There is no one, but myself, that has inspired me to achieve high academic goals and succeed in life. I endure that a person’s success is impinged considerably by his or her high school decisions. By abiding by this theory I have carefully chosen my high school path, of which this class acts apart. I partake in many after school activities, including American Musical Theatre, Show Choir, and even relay for life. I incorporate an effort to embrace challenging classes that I can achieve in, yet cope without having the need to stress. And, most importantly I work hard to accomplish my many academic goals, and I never slack and preserve on trying until I accomplish my task.
My after school hours are absorbed by extra curricular activities. When I am not consumed by school work, I am either acting, singing, babysitting, volunteering for our school newspaper and yearbook and managing relay for life fundraising ideas for the Out Of The Blue team, as well as maintain the captain position of. This year I am participating in the school’s Out Of The Blue Show Choir and American Musical Theatre class. I firmly possess that music has approved my academics, because it benefits my study skills. I tend to compose songs with questions and the answers throughout them, so for tests I perform the song in my head and understand the concepts. I am also a babysitter for our school’s varsity cheer coach’s baby. I baby-sit her nine-month-old daughter during cheer practice; I have been engaging in this activity since ****** was a newborn. Babysitting sometime can run late so I must take responsibility and prepare the baby for bed. Babysitting has introduced me to many responsibilities that will flow to later in life. Although I must delay my homework to care for Hadley, it presents obstacles I must navigate be to achieve my goals. I have to feed the baby dinner, set her in the baby tube and clean her, mix the formula and water with a squirming fussy tired child in my arms, and rock her to bed. This has leaded me to encounter an optical in putting my schoolwork on hold to care for a living human. It has guided me to the feeling of accomplishment. Deciding to be seriously involved with our school’s fine art’s program as well as babysitting has kept me very busy and motivated to do my schoolwork. In addition, I believe that having various activities will be greatly considered by colleges when I apply to them.
But, before my after school activities I strive to accomplish my academic goals. Each year I vigilantly select my classes, checking each course lets me receive the opportunity to progress and grow. Since the seventh grade I have determined my own classes according to what I predict is preferred for me. Throughout my sophomore year I was introduced to acting and journalism colleges, one in Tampa Florida stuck out to me and I looked into attending there. In order to be accepted and meet goal acceptable to college, I must earn a high GPA witch sometimes is a hassle of a struggle for me having ADHD and Neurofibromatosis. Yet, despite what the doctors announced to me when I was little, that it would be more then a challenge for me to maintain B’s and C’s throughout my high school career, I refused to allow that to hold me down. I strive to achieve goals of outstanding grades while attending rigorous courses. I currently manage a GPA of 3.7 and a weighted GPA of 3.889. I strive to increase it even more this year. Although I did not pass the AP World History test last year, I opted to consume AP English Language and Composition to earn an acceptable grade on the exam!
Most importantly, I engage in a strong work ethic. During the summer I participated in Hope online on FLVS, I worked thoroughly to finish the class in less then 3 months. Doing so was a major challenge; yet, I achieved that goal and attained an A in the class. Yet, one thing about myself that is irritating is the fact that I am always stressing over school. Because of this I study and finished work ahead of time. But, this is a challenge at times because I am a procrastinator. There have been times when I feel like giving up, but I have been informed that if you maintain a positive attitude you can do superior and receive a good grade. My main goal for the 2010-2011 school year is to achieve all A’s and B’s without procrastinating. This will be a challenge but I’m positive I can succeed. Hopefully this will decrease my stress and cause me to excel even more. I understand it is going to be tough and I will struggle, but in the end I predict it will benefit me tremendously. Taking this AP course I contradict, will challenge me. Even though I am professional writer when it comes to making up my own stories, I tend to struggle when I am handed a topic to write. I still grasp the fact that I will improve my writing skills this year.
Taking AP Language and Composition will challenge me tremendously, but I am prepared for it. I am beginning the year with a positive attitude and a mind set that I can achieve an A as long as I am willing to work for it. I am a student who wants to do amazing and achieve perfect grades so that I can accomplish my goal of one day becoming a Journalist and performer. I am up to the challenge of the class and I will earn an A. I feel like anything is possible as long as I set my mind to it.
