Recap of episode 4 - as we have read the last episode, Imdad finds out about Thahmin’s disappearance and immediately rushes to the hallway and tells the shocking news to everyone. When the whole family hear the news, they fall in for a big shock. Mozaquir warns Akash that if anything happens to Thahmin he will not spare him because it was his fault for Thahmin leaving the house. Outside, in the city of London, Thahmin walks around very disappointed and lost. She doesn’t know where to go. But thanks to god, a lady sees Thahmin and kindly takes her to where the lad lives. Thahmin and the lady have tea together. By seeing the lady living alone in her house, Thahmin asks the lady if she has a family. The lady reveals to Thahmin that her husband had killed her parents because they did not agree to her marriage. Lets read on.

EPISODE 5 – A Criminal Called Rohit Sharma

Scene 1 - In College

20 years ago - Morning - 9:00am

(the lady, whose name is Rita Sharma, walks towards college with her friends)

Friend 1 - (excited) Oh I can’t wait to meet new people today! Were going to change!
Friend 2 - Hey we should! Study, play and lots more! Its one reason why I’ve come here to study!
Friend 3 - I thought you only came to meet new boys.

(friend 2 looks at friend 3 surprised)

Friend 1 - What? (to friend 2) You came here to meet boys!
Friend 3 - Oh yes boys!

(Rita laughs)

Rita - (to friend 2) Oh my god, you came here to meet new boys?
Friend 2 - Ok then yes I did.

(Rita and the others start laughing. Rita suddenly bumps into a lad and her bag falls onto the ground between them)

Rita - Oh I’m so sorry…

(she looks at the lad and sees how handsome he is. The lad and Rita stare at each other for a while)

Rita - I…
Rohit - Hey its ok!

(they both reach down onto the floor to pick up Rita’s bag)
Rita - So are you new here?
Rohit - Nah I’ve been here since the previous school year!
Friend 1 - Ooohh something is getting warm!
Rita - (to friend 1) Shut up!

Scene 2 - Rita’s Story

(Rita as her present self talks about some of her story below while images are shown)

Rita - At that point we fell in a little love exposition. My friends kept teasing me that I already had someone to love and I sort of agreed. But I had never thought that in many years time, this love would make a resolution to my parent’s life. And for the first time, that was when we started to break up. I never knew that he had killed my parents just because they did not accept our marriage till my friends found out. But even after they did, Rohit managed to kill two of them. The other one had survived, maybe this what god wanted. And so she told me with strong emotions that Rohit had killed my parents. I thought they died from a car accident but the car accident was planned by Rohit. Soon, Rohit gave up and he divorced me after knowing I knew the truth about him. He warned me before leaving that if I ever tell this to anyone, my life would be in danger…

Scene 3 - Thahmin’s Address

Back in the present tense - late afternoon 5:00pm

(Rita bursts crying. Thahmin puts her arms around her shoulders to calm her down)

Thahmin - If you and Rohit were married, don’t you have any children?
Rita - yes! I do…or I did!
Thahmin - What do you mean you did? Did he kill him too?
Rita - It was my daughter. Her name was Rani Sharma. She lived with us but…after the divorce…she joined hands with him!

(Thahmin gasps)

Afterwards, I never got the chance to speak with her again. And I took her out of my family chain for good! Wonder what now will happen to me!
Thahmin - I am positive Rita, that nothing will happen to you.
Rita - You never know! He’s very psychic. He can find out that I’ve told you his crime!
Thahmin - but no one is around. Rohit won’t find out because no one is here to alert him!
Rita - yes that’s true…

(Rita becomes very afraid. Her face expression turns very red like a tomato. She starts breathing heavily. She suddenly realizes Thahmin is wrong)

Thahmin - what’s the matter? You just changed suddenly.
Rita - (sobs and looks at Thahmin a few times) oh no Thahmin. Your wrong. Rohit has a chance to find out!
Thahmin - but how? He nor anyone else is present here with us so…?
Rita - but he has voice recorders installed everywhere in this house!

(Thahmin turns shocked)

Thahmin - what? What is going to happen now?
Rita - I’m afraid he’ll kill me and anyone else who knows about this.
Thahmin - that person is me!
Rita - (looks at Thahmin very guiltily) yes Thahmin. Your going to be killed as well!

(Thahmin’s face expression turns very shocked)

Rita - you need to escape quick!

(Rita grabs Thahmin by the shoulder and forcefully drags her towards the front door)

Thahmin - but…
Rita - no time! Save yourself!
Thahmin - but…I don’t know where… to go!

(Rita stops and thinks. Afterwards she takes her upstairs)

Thahmin - Where are we going?
Rita - (rushing up the stairs) you can go and hide somewhere in my bedroom!
Thahmin - but how will that help?
Rita - stay quite close to the window! If he barges into the house killing me then I will scream as loud as I can for you to jump out the window ok?
Thahmin - but I can’t!
Rita - (angrily) You have to!

(Rita throws Thahmin into a bedroom)

Rita - Stay here ok? don’t dare come out till I tell you to.
Thahmin - but…
Rita - please Thahmin! Your life is in danger!

(Thahmin sighs helplessly)

Rita - See you later!

(Rita leaves and Thahmin lies onto the bed)

Scene 3 - Thahmin On TV

(Rita locks all the doors that lead to the backyard and outside. She finally switches on the TV and notices Thahmin is on the news and that she is missing)

Rita - is that Thahmin? So her family is looking for her because she ran away! I better call them quick before Rohit arrives. It might be a bit too late!

(Rita picks up the phone and struggles to dial 911. But she does it successfully)

Mr Verma - hello police station how can I help you?
Rita - hello? Hi I’m calling from…

Scene 4 - In The Ali House

(Imdad, Iqbal and Megha are sat down worried about Thahmin. Mozaquir, Akash, Anurag and Akhtar are walking slowly across the hallway. Rakesh and Malini enter)

Mozaquir - (to Rakesh) have you found any news?
Rakesh - (disappointed) no sorry dad no new news at all.

(Mozaquir sighs and walks off)

Akhtar - (to Anurag) why don’t we go and help them Anurag? At least it makes it quicker.
Anurag - no it might be too late Akhtar.
Malini - (to Anurag) no don’t say that it sounds bad.
Rakesh - (to Anurag) what do you mean its too late?
Anurag - perhaps Thahmin has gone somewhere far by now.
Rakesh - (angrily) so that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t continue searching you idiot!
Anurag - how on earth are we supposed to find her!

(breaking news is announced on the channel that Thahmin is missing. Iqbal and Megha are shocked , to see the news. Anurag, Akhtar, Malini and Rakesh enter the room, see the news and become furious. Slowly other family members enter)

Anurag - (to everyone angrily) who did this? Who told our family matter to the whole world?

(silence)

Tell me!!
Rakesh - calm down! Your not going to get anything like this!
Anurag - then what other way should I do it?
Mozaquir - whoever did this will be dealt with later but for now we have to find Thahmin!

(the phone rings. Akash picks it up)

Akash - hello?
Mr Verma - hello its Mr Verma. I am calling you to let you and your family know that we have found Thahmin!

(Akash becomes relieved)

Akash - oh officer where is she?
Mr Verma - I’m coming to your house. We all will go together!
Akash - ok sir thanks.
Mr Verma - thanks.

(Akash replaces the phone back to its position)

Anurag - who was it?
Akash - it was the officer! He told me that he knows where Thahmin is!

(there is a sign of relief in everyone but Mozaquir’s face turns confused)

Mozaquir - I don’t understand but who told the police about our family matter?
Anurag - I don’t know.
Malini - but dad don’t you think it is a good idea that they know. They found Thahmin and we couldn’t. so maybe…
Aneetha - you told them!

(everyone face Aneetha)

Who else could it be? You seem happy that everyone outside our family knows Thahmin is missing.
Malini - but mum…
Aneetha - Now our reputation will fall. people will think we kicked her out or she doesn’t want to come back because we’re nasty to her! She’s going to tell everyone this very thing!
Malini - mum! I didn’t do anything. I’m just saying that Thahmin is found which is the good thing isn’t it? Oh I forgot! You hated her so…?
Aneetha - So shut up! Don’t talk like that to me understand?

(Malini looks away from Aneetha angrily. Aneetha looks at Mozaquir as if he is the blame for Malini’s behaviour)

Aneetha - do you see how your daughter in law talks to me? Just like you and your daughter Thahmin! I knew Thahmin would ruin our family somehow or the other! Look! Thahmin has made Malini talk to me very rudely!
Mozaquir - that is your fault Aneetha!
Aneetha - my fault? What have I done?
Imdad - its better if you don’t talk always which annoys others!
Aneetha - (to Imdad) You shut up! You don’t have to give me your good talk! Give it someone else!

(Aneetha furiously rushes out the room. Imdad looks at Mozaquir as if he might get scolded)

Scene 5 - In Rita’s House

(Rita keeps looking out the window to see if Rohit is coming. there is no one in the yard and so Rita walks towards the bottom of the stairway)

Rita - (at the bottom of the stairway) Thahmin! Rohit is not coming so I think your safe!

(Thahmin pulls herself up from the bed. She walks downstairs. Rita sees her and quickly gestures her to sit down)

Rita - (sitting Thahmin down on a chair) sit down quickly Thahmin.

(Thahmin is sat on a chair)

Tell me your address! I’ll contact your family to let them know where you are. They should come to pick you up and so afterwards Rohit wont know who you were.
Thahmin - no I don’t want to go back home!
Rita - you have to Thahmin. Where else will you go?
Thahmin - (putting her hands over her face) I don’t know!
Rita - you have to live!
Thahmin - no I don’t have to live! You haven’t seen all the horrible things people have said to me while I have been here in this world. This life of mine is so unfortunate! There is no one here for me!
Rita - I am here for you Thahmin! And by God’s name you will survive!
Thahmin - no I won’t and I don’t want to! I want to die here with you. If Rohit kills me it would be way better than to stay alive.
Rita - have you ever heard the story of the three little pigs?
Thahmin - (becoming bored) oh that boring story for babies. I don’t read those sad stuff!
Rita - my point is when the third pig’s house never fell down. Did he ever say that he wouldn’t plan anything and that he would give up and die? No he didn’t, he used his head and he won against the wolf. Like that you need to use your head against everyone who hates you Thahmin. Fight for your right to live. How does anyone else know how you feel when your hurt. You need to prove people wrong.
Thahmin - but how?
Rita - by back chatting with them! Show them what your really made out of. That your not as soft as butter!
Thahmin - (angrier) your right! Its high time my life is respected by people!
Rita - yes! And when Rohit arrives you need to think bravely about what you will have to do to destroy him.
Thahmin - but I don’t know how he looks like!
Rita - I don’t have a lot of visitors so there is a chance for him to arrive when I think he does!
Thahmin - what do I do when he comes?
Rita - you need to survive! Not only against him, but against all other odds who attack you throughout your lifetime here.
Thahmin - yes! You are right Rita! I need to be strong!

(someone knocks on the door very hardly. Rita and Thahmin freak out and they stare at the door for a while. Afterwards Rita faces Thahmin)

Rita - (pushing Thahmin upstairs) go up now! There is no time to waste! You need to survive!
Thahmin - what about you?
Rita - forget about me! I’ve lived long enough but you still need to!
Thahmin - but…
Rita - just go!

(Thahmin utters a soft sob and rushes upstairs. Rita leans on the front door and peeps out the door hole. She sees Rohit and freaks out. Rohit continues to knock very hardly on the door. Then he tries breaking it open)

Rita - Oh no what should I do? Its him!

INTERMISSION

Rohit - open the door you bitch!
Rita - never! I know you’re here to kill me and that girl!
Rohit - open the door! I’m gonna kill you both!
Rita - never!

(Rita rushes to the bottom of the stairs but she trips over a table. Rohit barges in and sees Rita on the floor. He is wearing a black mask, not revealing his face)

Rita - (to Rohit) No! get out now!

(Rohit grabs Rita and tries crushing her jaws)

Rohit - Where is she?
Rita - I’m not going to tell you!

(Rohit starts crushing her jaws)

Scene 5 - In The Bedroom

(Thahmin is rushing around the room)

Thahmin - Oh what do I do? He’s trying to come in the house!

(suddenly Thahmin hears a loud scream from the hallway by Rita. Thahmin is now very afraid)

Thahmin - Oh my god! Rita no!! what do I do now?

(Thahmin faces the window)

Scene 6 - Rohit’s Kill

(Rohit has crushed Rita’s jaws. Rita is lying on the ground dead. Rohit takes a few steps up the stairway. Thahmin cries and tries opening the window but it is locked)

Thahmin - Oh come on!

(Thahmin rushes to the drawer and she searches through them very quickly. She luckily finds the key. Rohit walks up the stairway and is now in the first floor. The bedroom is to his right across the passageway. Thahmin opens the window and climbs out very quickly but her foot gets caught inside and she falls down the chimney. Rohit enters the bedroom but she is missing. He swears and he rushes downstairs. Thahmin bumps her head onto the ground but she manages to continue running)

Thahmin - Help! Someone help me please!

(Rohit tries running out the front doorway which is broken but a police car parks in front of the house. Rohit quickly runs out the back way. Mr Verma comes out of the car as well as Anurag, Akash, Rakesh, Imdad, Mozaquir and Aneetha come out of Anurag’s Honda)

Mr Verma - (seeing the broken door) Oh no what has happened?

(Mr Verma, along with the family members, run into the house through the broken door and look around the room)

Imdad - Looks like someone has broken in!
Anurag - Of course someone has you idiot!

(Aneetha sees Rita’s dead body and she is shocked and startled)

Aneetha - (pointing to Rita) A dead body!

(everyone follows Aneetha’s finger and they are startled to see the body. Imdad sees the body and becomes shocked)
