Scene 7 - In The Ali House

 

Early evening 7:30pm

 

(Anurag and the others return home. They see Thahmin lying down asleep and they rush towards her)

 

Mozaquir - (regarding Thahmin) My child, where have you been? I have been searching for you everywhere!

 

(Anurag notices the plaster on her forehead)

 

Anurag - Why is there a plaster on her forehead?

Akhtar - (looks at Thahmin and turns back to Anurag) I don’t know their was some blood dripping from that area. Maybe she hurt her head somewhere I don’t know.

Anurag - You said she is fine!

Akhtar - Not after (motions her head to Thahmin) I saw this!

Aneetha - I wonder where the bloody girl disappeared after that women’s house!

Iqbal - (puzzled) Women’s house? I saw her outside in the middle of London.

Imdad - No your wrong she was being taken care of by an elderly women.

Iqbal - Are you sure? She bumped into me! And I brought her here!

Mozaquir - Yes it is possible! The bedroom window was open. Perhaps Thahmin climbed out of it.

Imdad - But why would she do that?

Aneetha - (to Imdad) Didn’t you see the dead lady’s body in the house?

 

(Iqbal and the other family members become shocked)

 

Akhtar - Dead body? What happened there?

Rakesh - Well the lady was murdered. That is what we saw!

Iqbal - Murdered? Hey that is what Thahmin sort of told me!

 

(a slight gasp from the family members)

 

Yeah when she bumped into me he said she is being chased and that she is going to be killed!

Imdad - Maybe the murderer was chasing after her because she saw the killer kill that lady!

 

(everyone gasps)

 

Anurag - We should tell the police!

Imdad - (walking to the phone) Yes that is right!

 

(The door bell rings. Akhtar opens the door and finds Mr Verma standing. Mr Verma walks in)

 

Mr Verma - Where is Thahmin?

Imdad - She is still unconscious! You cannot talk to her just yet!

Mr Verma - (impatient) No I need to talk now!

Mozaquir - Sorry officer she is asleep!

Mr Verma - I have seen the post-mortem examination results and it appears that the lady named Rita Sharma was killed!

 

(everyone become shocked)

 

So I need to ask Thahmin a few questions!

 

(Thahmin awakes and sees Mr Verma)

 

INTERMISSION

 

Mr Verma - (to Thahmin) Thahmin? Are you awake my dear?

 

(Thahmin rubs her eyes and she stares at everyone for a few seconds. Then she sits upright on the sofa)

 

Thahmin - What’s going on? Why is everyone around me?

Mr Verma - I want to ask you a few questions regarding the murder of Rita Sharma

 

(Thahmin gasps and lets out a terrifying scream)

 

Thahmin - No! he is going to kill me! Please help me!

Imdad - (puzzled) Who is going to kill you Thahmin?

Thahmin - They guy! The killer! He killed that lady and now he is going to kill me!

Mr Verma - Why is that?

Thahmin - That…lady told me…his crime in the…past…the…past and that now he knows I know his secret!

Mr Verma - What secret!?

Thahmin - He killed her parents!

 

(everyone become shocked)

 

Mr Verma - You mean Rita told you that?

Thahmin - (frightened) Yes!!

Mr Verma - Well then I will have to ask you some questions later! Now doesn’t look like the time!

Imdad - (annoyed. To Mr Verma) You see?!

 

(Mr Verma leaves. Imdad and Mozaquir calm Thahmin down. Soon Thahmin is calm. Akash walks over to Thahmin)

 

Akash - I know what I said earlier to you which offended you badly but, I want to say sorry for those filthy things I said to you. I don’t know if you will forgive me but…

Aneetha - (interfering) Yes Thahmin my dear, many of us have said a lot of wrong things to you and…we want to say sorry.

Anurag - Yes Thahmin

Akash - Yes Thahmin!

Aneetha - You can live in our house as our new daughter. We all have no problem ok?

 

(Malini, Mozaquir and Imdad smile)

 

Thahmin - (smiles) Ok I forgive you!

 

(a slight cheer from everyone)

 

But…

 

(silence)

 

You will have to forgive Imdad and Mozaquir as well for their mistake.

 

Aneetha - (smiles) Ok we forgive them as well!

 

(Malini, Mozaquir, Imdad and Thahmin chuckle. Imdad loses his smile and he calls for everyone‘s attention. All the family members look at him)

 

Imdad - I would like to say that now we have Thahmin back I want to tell you the truth that…I was the person who told the news reporters that Thahmin was missing.

 

(Everyone’s face become surprised. They look at Imdad angrily)

 

Scene 8 - Rohit’s Words

 

(Rohit peeps in through the window)

 

Rohit - So…this is her family. Well let me say that this happy family won’t be going in the good books no longer because…now their life will be full of miseries! Now that they have me, happiness which belongs to everyone particularly that little girl, will never be seen again!

 

(Rohit laughs and the camera comes to a still on his face. Then there is a fadeout)
