The story so far:
"My Happiness - Episode 1 - The Girl" -> "My Happiness - Episode 2 - The Argument At Supper"
Recap of Episode 2 - Imdad befriended Thahmin and so he showed her the new beautiful bedroom that belonged to Thahmin. After seeing this Thahmin was so amazed because she had never seen something so different. Imdad told Thahmin that Mozaquir had decorated the room by himself and By hearing this information Thahmin thought of the question if anyone knew Mozaquir had decorated the room for her. After this we find out that Mozaquir told Imdad about her coming to the house and so Imdad said he wasn’t supposed to tell anyone about her. Malini tried consoling Rakesh for acting very rude towards Mozaquir and Thahmin. She tells him that it might not be dangerous to have Thahmin living with them. But Rakesh had a feeling in his heart that there will be problems while Thahmin lives with them. Imdad had brought Thahmin to the dining room to share dinner with her new family but Aneetha and many of the family members criticized her being with them. Thahmin couldn’t bare her insult and left the table and the dining room so sadly. Mozaquir’s rage was building upon seeing all this. LET’S READ AHEAD TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!
EPISODE 3 – Think Positive
Scene 1 - In The Dining Room
(Imdad brings her to the table. Thahmin stares at everyone as if she is too scared to face them)
Akash - (to Imdad sarcastically) that was good you brought her Imdad!
Imdad - oh its my pleasure!
Akash - I didn’t mean it you idiot!
Imdad - I know you didn’t
(Imdad stares angrily at Akash)
Aneetha - talk respectively to him Imdad!
Imdad - why doesn’t he not understand that Thahmin is our sister now!
Anurag - it is definitely true that since this girl has stepped into our house…
Mozaquir - oh shut up!
Aneetha - (to Thahmin angrily) why are you here? Get lost! We don’t want to see you in our house! You cannot eat with us girl go now!!
(Thahmin lets out an innocent sob of grief, gets herself out of the chair and runs out of the dining room. Mozaquir‘s rage starts building until its has gone to its highest position. He gives very dirty looks to Aneetha)
Mozaquir - (to Aneetha very angrily)Are you happy now? Are you!? Because she’s left the table you can eat in piece?
Aneetha - Matter of fact I am happy that she‘s left the table and that I can eat in piece!
Mozaquir - Well you shouldn’t be! What has that poor daughter of ours done to you? Its me who you should be angry at not her!!
Aneetha - Daughter? Don’t you call her my daughter! She’s an orphan and she’s going to stay that way! You both are to blame for whatever you had done! She could have rejected not to come here! But no she didn’t do that! Doesn’t she know who we are? We are the ‘Ali Family’. a family who doesn’t allow poor orphan beggars to stay in our house!
Mozaquir - Oh no your not part of this family! You and many other people of this house are not part of this family anymore! Is this how you treat people? Will you ever treat a guest like this? Talk rude rubbish about them while they’re present with us? The ‘Ali Family’ are not supposed to be like that!Akash - (to Mozaquir) If only the guest is rude himself! We…no actually no one would like a guest staying in someone’s house for longer than they are supposed to!
Imdad - Oh really?
Akash - Yes really!
Imdad - (to everyone) Why don’t you all just give Thahmin a break you morons! She’s just here living with us. The poor girl didn’t know that the people who adopted her didn’t have a clue she was coming!
Aneetha - (to Imdad) Then blame your dad for that Imdad! He should have told us.
Imdad - But you still wouldn’t accept her!
Aneetha - I know I wouldn’t have!
Mozaquir - (to Aneetha) So what is the point in asking you If you’re not going to accept her?
Anurag - ok dad we know you did the wrong thing ok end of story!
Aneetha - he and that hideous girl are the blame for this families ruin.
(Imdad feels guilty)
Rakesh - you should have told us before she came
Malini - (to Rakesh) I don’t see any big deal here Rakesh. Its only a trivial matter lets not expand it.
Rakesh - you keep quiet!
Imdad - why? Just because she is backing up Thahmin?
Rakesh - shut up!
Imdad - no you need to…
Aneetha - Imdad!! Mind your tongue!
Mozaquir - (to Aneetha) but he’s telling you the truth! (to Imdad) Continue Imdad! Tell them how wrong they are!
Imdad - And to make things even…I also knew that Thahmin was going to come!
(the families faces fall into a small shock. Mozaquir stares blindly at Imdad because he told them the secret)
Aneetha - What? You knew she was going to come? Why didn’t you tell us?!
(Imdad is silent. He doesn’t have the audacity to continue speaking)
Akash - Go on tell us Imdad why are you silent?
Anurag - Yes tell us Imdad!
Mozaquir - Enough!! I pleaded to him not to tell anyone this secret!
(Aneetha, Akash, Rakesh and Anurag stare disappointingly at Imdad over their shoulders. Imdad leaves the room with heavy anger)
Aneetha - Hey come back! We’re not finished with you!
Mozaquir - Let him go Aneetha. He’s heard enough from all of you!
Akhtar - But father isn’t he going to drink his tea and eat his biscuits?
Mozaquir - Well I don’t think no one is in the mood of eating.
(Mozaquir leaves and slowly everyone leaves the table. Akhtar and Malini are the only ones stood near the dining table)
Scene 2 - In Thahmin’s Room
(Imdad enters Thahmin’s bedroom once again. She turns to him but faces to the wall ignoring his presence)
Imdad - Thahmin? Are you upset?
(no answer)
Thahmin I’m speaking to you. Please respond.
(no answer)
I know you are angry with me because I had forcibly taken you to the dining room and had wanted you to join me and the others for supper but it didn’t work out very well.
(no answer)
Instead you were insulted so much that I didn’t expect my mother to talk like this.
Thahmin - it was your fault.
Imdad - hey you spoke! (chuckles and then he turns upset again) won’t you forgive me?
(Thahmin faces Imdad with a smile)
Thahmin - I forgive you.
(Imdad smiles with relief)
But don’t do it again.
Imdad - (he grabs both of his ears) Ok I won’t I promise.
(Thahmin and Imdad both smile at each other)
Scene 3 - In The Living Room
Next day - Monday 25th August 1997
Morning - 9:30am
(Megha walks downstairs and into the living room. The living room is neat and tidy with a TV set at the right corner of the room. Vases and plants decorate the windowsill. Sofas are around the room facing the TV. Megha notices the newspaper in the letterbox. She walks towards it and takes it out)
Megha - (to Aneetha) mother! The newspaper is here!
(she sits down onto a sofa. Megha looks through a few of the headlines and spots a headline saying ‘ALI FAMILY ADOPTS A CHILD’ )
Megha - mum you comin? Come quick, have a look at what today’s newspaper says!
(Aneetha walks into the room and snatches the newspaper from Megha’s hand)
Aneetha - if this newspaper says anything bad about my family then I will throw that girl out of this house!
(Megha smiles. Aneetha reads the headline)
Aneetha - what! (reads the report) ‘ANEETHA DOESN’T AGREE TO THE ORPHAN. MOZAQUIR GENEROUSLY ADOPTED THE CHILD. THIS PROVES ANEETHA IS NOT WORTHY OF BEING CALLED A GOOD MOTHER OF THE ALI FAMILY’.
(Megha laughs but Aneetha faces her angrily as if to stop laughing. Mozaquir enters)
Mozaquir - so the tables have turned!
(Megha and Aneetha are startled. They face Mozaquir)
We now find out that its not me and Imdad who destroyed the reputation of this family, (referring to Aneetha) but a bad mother one who was supposed to have been a good one!
Aneetha - hey…
Mozaquir - enough! We know now the truth! (to everyone) hey Anurag, Malini, Akash, Iqbal everyone else come and read today’s newspaper headline! You will all be surprised!
(slowly everyone else enter the room)
Anurag - why did you call us dad?
Mozaquir - take a look at today’s newspaper! You’ll know what I am talking about! The girl you had accused of being the reason of this family’s ruin has changed to a person you might have not expected it to be!
Akash - what does it say?
Mozaquir - take a look for yourself! You wont believe me without proof anyway!
(Mozaquir leaves the room. Anurag and the others stare at the newspaper)
Scene 4 - In Thahmin’s Room
(Malini enters and sees Thahmin sitting on her bed disappointingly)
Malini - Thahmin?
(Thahmin looks up at Malini turns her face back down again onto her pillow)
I know you have been treated very badly for the past few days but I know for sure that things are going to get better! The newspaper came today!
(Thahmin looks up at Malini quickly for hearing about the newspaper)
Thahmin - did it say anything about me?
Malini - yes it did!
Thahmin - (bobs her head down once again with a slight whimper) oh god! Now for sure I wont be here any longer!
(Malini laughs)
Malini - well let me tell you that nothing like that is going to happen!
Thahmin - (looks at Malini) how can you be so sure?
Malini - because the report said that this family has done a great job by adopting you!
(Thahmin is relieved)
Thahmin - Oh that is a good news to here!
Malini - yes it is! And to make our bond more special I have decided that today we should go out and shop for our family members!
Thahmin - (surprised) really? With me?
Malini - yes really with you!
(a tear falls from Thahmin’s right eye)
Thahmin - thank you so much!
(Malini laughs)
Malini - Your very welcome!
(Thahmin and Malini both hug)
Scene 5 - In The Shopping Mall
Afternoon - 4:00pm
(Thahmin and Malini shop and buy many things for many family members such as flowers, clothes and their special foods. They exit the shopping mall and they walk towards a phone box)
Thahmin - Wow thanks sister in law you have really made me happy this afternoon! After a lot of tears flowing down my cheeks, this has changed my mood.
Malini - Well this is only the beginning! Wait till everyone at home sees the gifts you and I bought for them, they will have a shock!
Scene 6 - In The Living Room
(Thahmin and Malini return with their gifts. Akhtar, Aneetha, Iqbal, Megha, Imdad and Rakesh are delighted that Thahmin had gotten gifts that they admired. But Akash and Anurag sneer at Thahmin for trying to act generous)
Aneetha - Wow girl thank you for these gifts!
Akhtar - (looking at her own flowers) yeah it surprised me so that you bought us these presents! What made you think like this after all the accusations we made at you!
Aneetha - (guilty) really Thahmin it was a mistake to accuse you for this families ruin. It was actually my fault. I’m sorry.(Thahmin hands out the Akash and Anurag’s gifts to them)
Thahmin - (to Aneetha) No mum please don’t be upset. It wasn’t entirely your fault. Of course you thought about this family first which is being a good mother!
Aneetha - Thank you for saying!
Akash - but I don’t agree with this!!
(everyone face Akash surprisingly)
Mozaquir - (to Akash) So you still object the fact that Thahmin isn’t the blame for this families ruin?
Akash - I don’t agree to the fact that she has to stay in our house!
Aneetha - But the matter is over now Akash!
Akash - no its not! She’s only giving us presents to make herself feel at home! (to Thahmin) why did you have to give us these presents? Don’t you know we only accept gifts from rich families and not poor orphan beggars like you!
(Akash throws the gift onto Thahmin’s face. She becomes heartbroken. Tears well up in her eyes)
Imdad - Akash!
Akash - (to Imdad angrily) Shut up!! Who asked for you to speak like that?
Imdad - I said to myself that someone needs a bollocking around here and that’s you!!
Akash - (to Imdad angrily) hey Imdad!!
Malini - enough both of you!!
(a slight pause. Thahmin utters an innocent whimper and jogs out of the room sadly)
Malini - (to Akash) why don’t you ever keep your mouth shut? You freak!
Akash - why don’t you shut that trap and continue your **** shopping with that hideous girl!
Rakesh - hey Akash!! don’t dare talk like that with my wife understand?
Akash - then ask her who told her to interfere in my argument?
Rakesh - But you didn’t have to talk like that about Thahmin!
Akash - who cares! I do what I want!
(Akash leaves the room furiously. everyone are angry at Akash)
Scene 6 - In Thahmin’s Room
(Thahmin is sitting on her bed once again weeping. She has a few visions of what Akash was saying in the living room. Then she takes out a pen and searches for some paper and after finding some she starts writing)
INTERMISSION
Scene 7 - In The Kitchen
(Malini is cutting potatoes while thinking about the reaction that everyone gave to Thahmin’s gifts. Snaps are shown when everyone were delighted and thankful to Thahmin but not to Malini)
Malini - (thinking) its so strange. Usually when I buy many stuff for the family members, they thank me so dearly but today they didn’t say a word!
Is it that they didn’t expect Thahmin to give them all something? Maybe. But I shouldn’t think that Thahmin is being more respected than I am supposed to be. Well whatever!
(Malini accidentally cuts her index finger on her right hand making it bleed. Akhtar rushes along close to her)
Akhtar - Malini (holding Malini’s right hand) what have you done? What childishness is this? You have been cooking in this kitchen for five years and you still cut yourself? Shame on you! Don’t worry come with me we’ll get some tissues and a plaster!
(Akhtar skitters off with Malini. After they reach the living room Malini hears the backdoor close)
Malini - hey sister in law I think someone has come let me go and check!
Akhtar - not after you wear this!
Scene 8 - In Thahmin’s Room
(Imdad enters Thahmin’s room but finds no one there)
Imdad - Thahmin? Thahmin its me Imdad where are you?
(Imdad walks around the room looking everywhere but there is no sign of Thahmin. Imdad notices a letter on the desk. He reads it and his face turns very shocked)
Imdad - What? Thahmin has left the house and ran away?
