Recap of episode 3 - as we read in the last episode, Imdad brought Thahmin to the dining room to have her first supper with her new family but, it did not go well. Aneetha, Akash and Anurag started another argument about Imdad bringing Thahmin to the dinner table to eat with them. After Thahmin hears enough accusations on her she leaves the room disappointed and embarrassed. Seeing this, Mozaquir’s rage grew and he gave his own scolding to the family members. Once again, Aneetha blamed Mozaquir for the families ruin by not telling them that he had adopted Thahmin by himself. Imdad feels guilty and he reveals the little secret that he knew as well. The family, upon hearing this were quite surprised.
Afterwards, Imdad asks Thahmin for forgiveness even though he purposely forced Thahmin to go to the dining room and have supper like a whole family. Thahmin forgives him and the next morning, the newspaper arrives and Megha reads an interesting report on the Ali families new daughter adopted. Everyone soon finds out that the report had said good comments about the family adopting Thahmin from the orphanage. Aneetha and the rest of the family start realizing that having Thahmin adopted might have not been a bad idea after all because they had gotten good comments from the news reporters which adds to the good reputation of the Ali family. Malini, feeling proud to have Thahmin decides to go out on a shopping trip with Thahmin and buy many gifts for the family members and so Thahmin agrees.
After returning everyone are happy with their gifts except Akash, who purposely scolds Thahmin yet again. Soon, Imdad enters Thahmin’s room and finds a letter on the desk. Imdad reads the letter and finds out Thahmin has ran away. READ MORE!

EPISODE 4 – Find Thahmin

Scene 1 - In Thahmin’s Room

(Imdad enters Thahmin’s room but finds no one there)

Imdad - Thahmin? Thahmin its me Imdad where are you?

(Imdad walks around the room looking everywhere but there is no sign of Thahmin. Imdad notices a letter on the desk. He reads it and his face turns very shocked)

Imdad - What? Thahmin has left the house and ran away?

Scene 2 - In The Hallway

(Imdad runs to the centre of the living room)

Imdad - Oh my god everyone come here now! Please its urgent!

(Imdad rushes around the room in circles. Mozaquir is first to enter followed by Aneetha and everyone else)

Mozaquir - What is it Imdad? You look worried?
Imdad - Oh dad have you seen Thahmin anywhere?
Mozaquir - No son if your looking for her then she’ll be upstairs in her room! Why are you looking for her anyway?
Imdad - She’s not in her room!

(everyone look puzzled)

Mozaquir - Not in her room? (laughs) you must be mistaken!
Imdad - No dad I’m serious you can go and check yourself whether Thahmin is not in her room or not. I’ve just been and she’s not!
Mozaquir - (turns and faces Megha) Megha.
Megha - Yes dad!
Mozaquir - Please go and check if Thahmin’s in her room.
Megha - Ok dad.

(Megha leaves the room)

Aneetha - If Thahmin is not in her room, where will she be?
Akhtar - Probably she’s gone to a near shop.
Akash - With what? Money? Oh she might have stolen some while no one was around!
Aneetha - Shut your rubbish Akash! It isn’t the time to talk bad about someone. But to worry about a family member!

(Akash is surprised)

Akash - Family member? Wow you have changed in one day!
Mozaquir - Shut your rubbish Akash!!

(Megha returns and her face is covered with shock)

Megha - (to Mozaquir) Dad Imdad’s right!

(everyone are now shocked)

Mozaquir - What? Thahmin isn’t in her room?
Aneetha - (to herself. She is looking on the floor) Oh god, where has this girl run off to!
Malini - Probably she’s here somewhere! We all should split up and check everywhere!
Iqbal - good idea! Lets go!
Imdad - but…
Mozaquir - (rushing away) Will you please stop chattering and help us search!
Imdad - but you need…(thinking) you need to see the letter Thahmin wrote. I doubt the fact that she’ll be home! It says on the letter that she has ran away. How should I tell you! I don’t think I would be able to tell you all this. But I have to!

(Lets go - the song is on while everyone searches for Thahmin around the house)

Is she somewhere here?
Where would she be?
We have no idea!
She might be in our home.

But as we’re searching
There is no sight of her

Scene 3 - In Thahmin’s bedroom

(Mozaquir stares blindly at Thahmin’s bed and sits down beside it)

Mozaquir - where have you disappeared Thahmin! What did I do to you? I know you must be heartbroken after all that was said to you. But will a father stay in piece until his daughter returns? Will a parent stay in piece without seeing his own daughter? Please come back!

(Imdad enters when Mozaquir says his last sentence)

Imdad - dad, I want to show you something.
Mozaquir - have you searched for Thahmin?
Imdad - …no.
Mozaquir - (turns to Imdad shockingly) what? You haven’t searched for her? (pulls himself up from the bed) How stupid are you? Don’t you care about her you idiot!
Imdad - of course dad I care about her but…theirs something I have to show you…
Mozaquir - show me? Show me what? That you don’t care about Thahmin?

(he sits down onto the side of the bed again)

Imdad - no dad no…its something else.
Mozaquir - what is it?

(Imdad pulls out the letter very slowly that Thahmin had written)

Mozaquir - what’s that?
Imdad - something that Thahmin…had written before she left.
Mozaquir - Thahmin’s letter? Give it here!

(Imdad hands the letter to Mozaquir and he starts reading it. The letter is below)

Dear Imdad/family

My life took a big twist and a turn when I was adopted into the Ali family. But since I have been there no one had given me the love of a sister nor did mother give me her love. Father gave me his love which I had admired so much. But after learning that your family is one of the great families in this neighbourhood, I could not ruin your family by staying any longer. Your family problems were caused by my presence and it is better if I leave and go somewhere else. Please don’t feel guilty that I am leaving because many of you don’t show hatred towards me but I want your family to stay happy the way it did before. I hope to see you all again some day if only you will respect me.

(Mozaquir drops the letter onto the floor in shame. Tears dribble down his cheeks)

Mozaquir - it was my fault! I shouldn’t have let those family members say such things to Thahmin. It was my responsibility to keep Thahmin secure and make her feel like she’s at home. But I couldn’t do that. Now someone will pay!

Scene 4 - In The Hallway

(Mozaquir leaps up from Thahmin bed and takes big steps out the door and call Akash while walking down to the hallway. Imdad follows him from behind)

Akash - what is it dad?

(Mozaquir throws the letter onto Akash’s face)

Mozaquir - read that letter now!

(Akash looks down to the letter and leans down to pick it up)

Aneetha - (to Mozaquir) what does it say on the letter?
Mozaquir - (to Aneetha) read it after Akash!
Aneetha - no tell me now!

(Akash reads the letter and turns shocked)

Aneetha - (to Akash) what does it say Akash?
Akash - …Thahmin has…left the house and ran away!

(everyone’s faces turn shocked except for Mozaquir and Imdad. Mozaquir angrily walks to Akash and slaps him across the face)

Mozaquir - because of you all this has happened!!
Akash - me? What did I do?
Mozaquir - you know what you did! don’t start acting!! You had said all this stuff to Thahmin and now she has left my house!
Akash - but mum and…
Mozaquir - they had stopped! But you continued!
Aneetha - (to Akash) see what you have done?
Malini - (to Akash) you deserve that slap!
Imdad - (to Akash) yes you do!
Akash - (to Imdad) shut up!
Mozaquir - (to Akash furiously) you shut up!!

(a slight pause)

Mozaquir - if anything happens to Thahmin, then this will be your last stay in the Ali house!

(everyone become shocked. Particularly Akash)

Or even I might decide to bring Thahmin here, and throw you out!

(Mozaquir leaves followed by Imdad. Akash and the rest of the family are shocked after Mozaquir’s words)

Scene 2 - Out On The Street

(Thahmin walks past a few kids. She looks at them and looks back onto the ground as if ashamed to live. Some kids start bullying her and Thahmin nearly breaks down. A mother comes and moves the kid away from Thahmin)
Mother - (to the kid) how many times do I have to tell you that bullying is sinful! It hurts people.
Kid - sorry mum I wont to do it again.
Mother - (to Thahmin) excuse me?

(Thahmin stops walking and turns around)

Thahmin - yes can I do anything for you?
Mother - no its just that on behalf of my child I am sorry.
Thahmin - no its ok…
Mother - no it isn’t! when children walk the wrong path in life, its up to the parents to take care of them!

(a slight pause)

Thahmin - (a miserable stare) hmm…yes you are right!
Mother - (to the kid) go on…say sorry to her!

(kid walks to Thahmin)

Kid - I am sorry!
Thahmin - (smiles) its ok.

(the kid skips to his mother)

Mother - (to the kid. Hugging him gently) That’s my boy! See? Your mother will always love you if you behave!

(the mother and kid disappear onto another street. Thahmin‘s stares sadly at the other street where the mother and kid disappeared)

Thahmin - (thinking) Why am I cursed Allah? What did I ever do in my life that made me so unfortunate. Seeing parents love their children like the way that mother did to her child makes me feel very unfortunate! So unlucky!

(Thahmin continues her walk)

It is said, that a child will never learn to follow the right path if their parents don’t teach them good manners. Was it right for me to choose this very path? Maybe my fate has more in store! Nothing interesting has happened so far in my life. But who knows? Twists happen!

(Thahmin walks into a backstreet and sits on a empty, clean spot. After a few seconds an old women arrives and walks towards Thahmin. Thahmin glimpses at the old women and then turns her head to the ground)

Lady - (husky voice) Hello there little girl may I help you?
Thahmin - No it is ok.
Lady - Are you ok??
Thahmin - (lying) Yes I am fine.
Lady - You look lost.
Thahmin - (folds her arms) no really I am fine!
Lady - Are you feeling cold?
Thahmin - (annoyed) Yes…I mean no.

(lady laughs)

Lady - I got you there!

(Thahmin rolls her eyes)

Lady - Tell you what, why don’t you come with me and freshen up!

(Thahmin stares at the old lady for a second. She is surprised)

Thahmin - (surprised) Really?
Lady - Yes. You seem like you are all alone in the world.
Thahmin - (muttering) I am all alone in this world.
Lady - Sorry?
Thahmin - No its ok.
Lady - So are you coming?
Thahmin - Hmm…perhaps.
Lady - Come on I’ll keep you warm!

(the lady, very generously takes hold of Thahmin by the shoulders, helping her get up from the hard, rough ground)

Lady - Your bottom must be soar and stiff after sitting on that ground.
Thahmin - (chuckles) Yes it is. The back of my head is a bit soar as well thanks to the wall.

(Thahmin and the lady both chuckle)

INTERMISSION

Scene 3 - In The Old lady’s House

(Thahmin sits herself onto a warm couch beside the radiator. The old lady brings in two cups of tea from the kitchen and she gives Thahmin a cup)

Lady - So…

(the lady sits herself on the couch beside Thahmin)

How is your life?

(Thahmin looks onto the ground in shame)

Thahmin - Well…how is your life?

(Lady smiles but in a way which makes it look like as if she isn’t happy)

Lady - my life isn’t any better than yours. I live alone, without my own family.

(a slight pause)

Thahmin - really? You don’t have parents?
Lady - (laughs) actually everyone has parents. If they don’t then how are they ever born? My parents died when my husband killed them.

(Thahmin becomes shocked)

Thahmin - What? Your own husband murdered your parents?

(lady nods)

But why? What was his name?

Lady - (a pause)…Rohit Sharma
