Great advice! Your writing is consistently strong and vivid; when I saw in the title that this was written by you, I knew I could take the advice inside seriously. I will be sure to keep these tips in mind the next time I write! Especially the one about moving a story forward. I am guilty of writing stagnant chapters in which nothing much happens.

Wow, really interesting and intense! Like theblackhand said, this is really well written. Great descriptions. The only thing I might suggest is having him try to the doorknob before he kicks it in - he probably would check to see if it was locked or unlocked before he would try breaking it down.

Very interesting piece you've started here. I know I will be thinking about this for the rest of the day now, and probably through the rest of the week.
I find that one thing I have trouble doing is separating myself from my thoughts. I am constantly being tied down, rooted to one spot by my thoughts. You say we have become too attached to our senses, that they inhibit us from experiencing things with a certain fullness. However, perhaps our conscious thoughts also prevent us from accessing our subconscious.
