"Paige honey how are you feeling?"

"Mom I'm scared...he’s gonna get me...I just know it'

"Paige I'm right here...don't you worry sweety...I'll be here whenever you need me. So will Franco"

Franco shot at glance towards me and Paige on the sofa, a glance filled with fear and love. I looked at Paige who had found a comfy spot on my lap to rest her head on, and prayed for the best.

Paige's eyes were filled to the brim with tears and hands clenched in to fists. It was as if she wanted to fight back. She couldn't though. That's why I was going to fight for her.

What was it that brought all four of us together? What was Esperanza trying to say when she phoned me? Who was the killer? I needed a clue....anything that would help me.

She knew something. She had to know. She was the only lead I had.

This crazed killer would have to go down and Esperanza would be the first step.

"Mom...I can't get it off my mind...I think he’s gonna go afta' me...he’s gonna kill me"

I placed a cold cloth on Paige’s head. She hadn't stirred for the whole day. It was as if the dream had taken its toll on her. Every day I considered taking her to the doctors and everyday threw it out as a worthless pursuit as the doctors couldn't do much if they didn't know how Paige got in to that state. 

Franco was taking his "vacation" early and I had Methra handle all the business. Yet after a few days nothing seemed to be getting better. Paige was still unconscious and we were still in the same position.

It was on the third day that I decided to do something. These dreams...they had brought nothing but sorry to my family and now they were going to have to bring hope.

I called forth any and all the darkness I could muster and counted up to three.

One Two Three

Nothing.

Nothing.

I saw a flash of a house. Darkness surrounded it. That was all I needed.

The whole house was surrounded by bells that chimed every second. Quickly I walked towards the door knocking as soon as I could. I waited for a few seconds and no answer. I rang the bell this time. In just a few minutes the door was answered by a woman dressed in silk robes with grey hair. Her eyes look void of sleep and her arms were severely bruised. Her forehead was filled with wrinkles. It was Esperanza Flores.

"Come in"

I walked in to a room that was no better than her condition. Cow webs, dust, and dirt. It was all there. 

"Sit, Sit"

"I came here cause I have some questions"

"Go on"

"Well...I was just thinking that you would be able to help me since you phoned me" 

"I did not. I don't even recognize you. Let ya in cause u seemed desperate"

"Bu...But you said that Paige was in danger... YOU PHONED ME. YOU'RE MY ONLY HOPE"

"You've got the wrong person. I was gonna ask ya if ya wanted a drink. But just get the hell out now. Shouldn't of let ya in at all. Crazy lady I tell ya. OUT."

"Please....your my only hope" I cried holding back the tears.

"Well I'm sorry. You're gonna have to lose any glimmer of hope you thought you were gonna get from me. Now please just leave"

I got up defeated and walked towards the door. I had failed.

I turned to give Esperanza a pleading look and was immediately surprised at what I saw. Esperanza's eyes were wide open, with a shade of red. Her hands were raised high into the air and she began to speak.

"Every once in a while a seer is born. They have to live through the worst of it all... The killings they were here since the beginning, ever since Moses went up and got em Commandments. Since then the killings seized only for a few days at a time and then started right back up again. Then came the seers. They scared the hell outta em Comkillers. They saw all that they did and stopped em. Yet the Comkillers weren't so dumb themselves. They would know...when one of em seers was born. And they started targeting the seer's with full force whenever they were born."

Then she paused as if whatever had possessed her was getting one hell of a fight.

"....Paige is a special seer. That’s why I thought she would be killed. But I was wrong. They hadn't recognized her as a seer yet. And you my dear are already full within their grasps. But now I am sure. They have found out...they know of Paige being a seer. You don't have much time. They are on their way. You must....go...."

Then her eyes went back to normal and her hands went back to her sides. Esperanza looked at me and said

"Go on...get out now 'fore I call the cops"
