Not bad writing. Perhaps the flow could be improved to a more contemporary form !? Like the way you've mixed in the local slang. The dictionary at the end was good, but suggest that it would have been better wound into the story, for those readers not in the know. It would actually be more memorable that way. Keep the the faith.
