Discussion of "A LOOK INSIDE NASHVILLE BECKER’S SOAPBOX" by nashvillebecker

I have told you from the beginning Nash that you are inspirational and a driving force in helping me better my work. Your 'soapbox' is straightforward. You give criticism without making someone feel like ****. At least that is how I perceive you.
I am glad that you are one of the judges. You, dogdeity, wwb and honeygloom have always given it to me straight, and more times than not I take in as much of the advice as I can and I force myself to become a better writer.
Hopefully others who read this will be willing to do the same.

You know Nash, I haven’t been writing for very long, but it is the one thing I enjoy when the rest of the world seems too real, too validating. The funny thing is, I discovered writing purely by accident. I was twenty years old and was asked to write a letter to my father, following his death. That letter ended up being over 50,000 words. It was within those words I discovered a greater respect for putting thoughts to paper, much more than a desire, but a need.

“A Look Inside,” reminded me of something my father use to tell me a lot when I was young. He said that without an understood passion of my own, no one in the world could teach me anything. It’s good to know there are others out there who can validate those words. Thank you. –Max Ryan

Being new to this site, I must say the first few times you critiqued my work I was offended. However, since I've really been taking the time to read what you've been writing to me, it's helped me out immensely and hopefully that's showing in my writing! Thanks so much for being such an inspiration and for helping me to become the best writer I can be. After all, how can I achieve my dream of having a New York Time's best seller if I don't take a little constructive criticism every now and then! Thanks again!

Hey Nash
Good rant. I find that i can reread my story 10 times before i publish it, but, when I publish it, there are still goddamn mistakes. It is like my mind skips them on purpose.
Hunter S Thompson, would rewrite other people's books, like Hemingway, for fun when he was a kid. I always thought that was crazy patience.
So to end i just have to say this, "You don't have a cousin Patty!" frying pan to the head.

Good advice, which is pretty much, what I've come to expect from you Nash, good advice, good criticism, and good writing.
