Elijah held a crystal chalice under a cool mountain spring. The water fell in sloppily wetting his hands. As he turned around to to greet the people down below, his heart broke for the beauty of the land. He simply couldn't get over the the splendor that lay beneath him. The perfect white sandy beaches the clung to dense jungle vegetation. His perfect people laying on the beaches below him, cheering him on.
The sun hung lazily in the late afternoon sky. Elijah held the water reverently above his head. Beams of sunlight hit the chalice and threw themselves from the edge of the cliff, inhabiting the area between the heavens and the ground. Elijah sipped the water and smiled. It was his time to die.
All of his people were watching intently, using their hand as a visor from the west-bound sun. Elijah's son, Lester, sat on his favorite rock with his wife, Sonya, who was nuzzled in his chest. He felt his body filling with joy as he looked up at his father.
Elijah poised himself as he stood on the edge of the cliff and remembered, "Follow the lights". He squatted down and felt the tension gather in his muscles. It felt good. He bounced up and down several times like a spring, gaining a sense of balance. He off the ground and he rocketed into the air, falling gracefully in a perfect swan dive.Everyone whistled and clapped while he was in the sky. He was right on target to fall directly on the red rock that would send him peacefully into the unknown.
