Escape (avant garde poetry, mature)  by mjbelluto

Escape from time.

Enter an existentialist mind.

See what it is you might find.

Honesty is the best policy.

The truth hurts, so let's test that theory.

Lose a friend because of a lost soul.

In the mind you find whose in control.

It is me, and now you know.

People you wish you could talk to.

Why try, they already can't accept you.

Understand or give the benefit of the doubt.

Entering that mind, is my way out.

See an old girlfriend and smile.

See another you cry awhile.

Once you love, you love forever,

Unless you no longer care.

Then it sounds completely unfair.

Someone waves and you don't know who it is.

But you wave back hoping they have something to give.

Because you're happy with everything you have.

But to make things work you have to go half-and-half.

Moral values won't let you do what you want.

But others are constantly egging you on.

You've found something you thought you lost.

Now if you could only do that again with the feelings of love.

But you feel the need to protect yourself.

Because last time you didn't, and your heart, mind, body, and soul fell.

But now you might be ready again.

You've had time within.

Waiting for something to happen,

Because if you force it you always end up back in.

Escape from time.

I'm always inside my existentialist mind.
