Give Up (avant garde poetry, mature)  by mjbelluto

I'm alone now.

Lost in an old town.

Feeling kind of lonely,

With just the sounds of the underground.

Sticking it out through the night.

Running away from my fights.

Women, sex, drugs, violence.

I give up it's not enough.

Take me away to my home.

Help me find the way I'll go.

North, south, east, west

I give up, I've got to rest.

Something on the sidewalk.

something on the street.

I'm afraid of who I am,

But hey that's me.

Fear of the unknown.

Fearing the way I'll go.

Simple lonely feelings.

Things that could change me.

Someone tried to stop and fight.

Gun, fist, and knife.

I walked right by him,

Now someone else could be dead.

Thoughts on the mind.

Lost with what I want to find.

What's the trick to this life?

Something shining in the night.

Maybe that's what could be right.

Chasing, running trying to catch it.

Darkness falls and now I've had it.

Find another way to know.

Find another path to go.

Find another time like this.

Find another day I missed.

Find another friend to love.

Too much trouble I give up.
