`Sira{Ichgo in the making} .....ichigo=strawberry in japanese
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He stood at the desk that was right next to mine. He seemed to be in his own little world, as he mixed colors on the pallet, yet there were also multiple colored chalks on the table. I wondered what he could have been creating over there.
He looked around 6’2 6’3, black lose hair, bluish – gray eyes. He wore black jeans and a gray sweeter. He seemed very relaxed, yet tense and formal.
“Oh my! Sira, it’s great to see you again dear.” Mrs. Goza said as cheerfully as always. “Have you brought your project with you?”
“Of course,” I laughed as I pulled a rolled up piece of canvas out of my bag and handed it to her.
She opened it and her jaw dropped a little. Then a bug grin formed on her face.
My painting was of Mt. Fuji. My father had once taught my how to paint things to where they seemed to look like photographs.
“Oh my word, Sira this is amazing.” She said in awe. “William, come her for a second.” She said looking at the god.
“Yes, Mrs. Goza?” William asked as he walked up to us.
“Have a look at this, it’s one of Sira’s art pieces.”
“May I?” he asked.
“S-sure.” Why oh why did I stutter.
He carefully took the canvas out of Mrs. Goza’s hands and stared at it. I wasn’t able to tell if he thought it was good or bad. He was extremely hard to read, and I was normally good at reading people.
Finally after what seemed like forever he spoke. “How were you able to do this?”
“Um, my dad taught me this a few years back.”
“I see. Well my names William,” he said with a smile.
“Yeah I kind of caught that,” I laughed. “But I’m Sira.”
“Yes I have seemed to understand that also,” he laughed again. Gosh he had a gorgeous laugh. “So shall I explain to you our assignment?”
“Yes you shall, that would be lovely.” What did I just say!?
He chuckled a bit, then headed towards his desk and I followed along beside him. Once he had finished explaining to me what our assignment was, and we had begun to work on our projects, all talking seemed to have ceased. Before I knew the bell was ringing for us to head to our next class. William said his goodbyes and he was gone. I managed to mumble a bye, but he was too far to here me. I gathered up my things and headed towards my next class, the class I hated most. Gym. Is it necessary to say anymore? But surprisingly, my classes began to pass in a blur, and before I knew it, I was walking to lunch with Rose and Demetre. The closer we go to the lunch room, the more anxious I became. I wanted to see William again and my body began to tremble in excitement, as if it new what was waiting inside that room. I wondered why he didn’t go by Will instead of William. Well William works too, it’s just so formal. Then I saw him. . . Trevor. The jerk was hitting on some cheerleader again. I was so sick of it. I mean, how can he pull one night stands all the time anyway? Doesn’t he want to ever fall in love, I mean real true love? Uh-oh, I was letting that side of me show again.
“… Sira what’s wrong?” Thank lord I have Rose to distract me.
“Huh? Oh nothing, Rose, it’s all good. I was just lost in thought again.” And with that, we all laughed. “Hey would you both mind is we sat as far as possible away from Trevor?”
“Course Si. You don’t have to ask us,” Demetre said with a worried look on his face.
When it was my turn in line, I wasn’t in much of a mood for food, so I just grabbed an apple and sprite. We sat on the opposite side of the room away from Trevor, which was pure heaven for me.
After a little bit of searching the cafeteria, I was able to find William, only he wasn’t alone. They were all students I hadn’t seen before. Must be the other new kids Demetre was telling me about. But looking at them I just couldn’t believe that every single one of them were related. They all looked different, yet some how exactly alike.
As lunch continued, I never for a second stopped asking my self random questions about them. Most of the questions revolved around William. The down side to asking the questions to myself, I knew they would never be answered.
After lunch ended and I was in my after noon classes, I wasn’t really paying any attention then either. Suddenly with out me noticing I was in my final class math, oh why oh why must I take this class? I couldn’t wait till next year. I would only have to show up to school –when I felt like it- for a class or two. I was a straight A student with out much effort any more. American schooling I found to be so much easier than Japanese. SO without a second thought, I reached into my bag and pulled out Twilight by Stephenie Meyer and began to read. To be truthful I envied Edward and Bella, They can’t be together but nothing will keep them apart. So Edward may be a vampire and Bella maybe human that means nothing to them. I sighed and then the bell began to ring. Students jumped up and ran out of the class room.
“Huh?” I looked up to see Mr. Wall glaring at me “Is something wrong sir.” I glared back.
“Go home and do not forget to do today’s homework.”
“Sir I finished that work before you even finished explaining the lesson. The only difference in the work was it wasn’t using the metric system.” I smiled which angered him more.
“Then I will grade it!” He yelled, anger and hatred covering even inch of his face.
I stood up and handed it to him, and then I took the position as if I were saluting someone “Yes Sir!”
“Wait in the hall.” He yelled again.
With a sigh I walked out into the hall, people glared at me as they passed me in the hall, I rolled my eyes then closed them and took a few deep breaths. Then I heard his voice “Sira? What has you standing here? I would have thought you had gone home already.” Whoa when did he get here? One second i’m on my own and the next he is here.
“Oh nothing that amazing, just kind of got stuck here. But what brings you here?” I asked.
“Nothing worth talking about. Sira is any thing wrong, you seem . . . upset.” he looked worried.
“Oh nothing is wrong. I’m just one of those people who get lost in though easily.”
“Really, what is it that you tend to think about?” I’m sorry but why does he care?
“This, That, nothing of exact consequence.” I shrugged.
“Interesting I guess,” He laughed his beautiful laugh again, “So what leaves you here standing?”
“Basic beginning and end story, my math teacher –along with many others- hate me and i’m forced to wait till he is done grading my work.”
“Truthfully, I don’t believe that’s possible.”
“William the simple fact is, I’m hated by just about everyone.” I said with a shrug and put my hands behind my head and began to lean against the wall.
“What is it that has you to thinking your hated?” is he really so dense?
“Part of it is I rarely show up to class this is the first time I came to school in two weeks, and find it very aggravating that i’m rarely here and I get straight A’s without struggle and they think i’m a quote un-quote ‘bad kid.’”
“Yes I have heard you skip often, what’s the meaning behind it?”
“I just don’t fit into the school scene anymore and I also have a job that’s way more important than school.”
“Anymore?” He questioned.
At this point there were a few collage classes and detention classes going on, so I figured why not, tell him he should at least know the truth before he hears and believes the lie’s.
No don’t, part of me said that.
My other said, Tell him, maybe he will side with you.
Another just said, Do as you see fit.
“Okay here’s the deal, I was born in the states but around age four or so me and my parents moved to Japan. So I grew up learning both languages and in Japan life was easy school, friends, family, anything really. But when my high school freshman year was about to begin we moved back to the States and the same as Japan. But once our winter break came, I lost my parents in a car crash and rumors spread. Everyone thinks my parents are in Europe or something and i’m just lying to get attention. So they all turned there backs on me and practically wished I were dead. I know this because some have told me.” Oh yeah and my parents were killed because of me. I left out a few parts but he should get the basic story.
For a moment he stood there as if I was meant to say ‘Ha got you I was just joking’ but I never did, “How . . . how can you handle this all?”
“Don’t know . . . over time I just learned to channel it out and to count on Rose and Demetre my only friends here.”
“Lord knows I wouldn’t be able to handle that.”
I laughed “Well it’s been long enough for me to get over it as much as humanly possible.”
“Well I suppose I should be leaving again. Sorry if I pried to much.” He seemed like he meant it to.
“Don’t worry. Bye” I waved as he walked away. As close as I wish I could be to him, the one guy that’s really listened to me before prejudging me. But I knew better than to love him, there won’t be a chance to are, he can only be a face I see at school, nothing more. But can I handle that? Is it even remotely possible to handle that?
“Sira, you got a hundred, go home. Now” Mr. Wall yelled.
“Peace out.” And I half ran to the stares to go home.
