Chapter 1  by melmel99

Today I am leaving town and going to Alaska for camp. So that means no parents, no people that I know. I get to meet a lot of new people. Yeah I know it is Alaska where not that much happens for camps, but the camp I am going to is very exclusive. It is a camp for teens specializing in a lot of things from swimming to basketball or volleyball to even rollerblading. This camp is very athletic you can say. Yeah I am athletic too. But unknown of and I want to stay that way right now.

I am Amanda Skynn (But I like to be called Anna, and my parents hate when I tell them to call me Anna) and I'm 16 years old. I am from Nashville, Tennessee. (I dont have that accent though.) I am a normal teen except that I have foster parents. I don't even know who my parents are. I ask my foster parents because they don't mind me asking, but they say every time "We have no idea who your parents are. We never got any information from the foster care house we picked you up from. They only said that you look exactly like your mom and that they left you with this blanket and this note that said 'Do not ever get rid of this blanket, we want our daughter to keep it till she is ready'"

But that is all they ever say. So I did some research myself. I found out some things but nothing for certain. I think they were from Alaska. But with my skills for this research stuff I could be really off. But that is why I chose Alaska over the camp in Florida or in the Bahamas. Oh yeah did I mention that my foster parents are pretty rich also. Guess not. Well my parents adopted me because they said they had a feeling that I would be a great athlete. They are famous for owning a lot of sports teams and an electric company (all sorts of computers, mp3's and other things like that) running a very successful.

I can't wait to get this camp. For one reason that it is only 3 days a week. The other 4 days we can do whatever we want if your parents got you your own apartment or something. But if you parents didn't give you a place to stay then you have to stay at the camp those 4 days and have an all week camp. But lucky me my parents are rich got me my own apartment. And I got an ATM card with and unlimited withdrawal. You may think I am a spoiled little girl but then you would have thought wrong. I spend that money well enough. I don't even walk into a designer store so I am not the average rich girly girl.

I live in this huge house and my closet is probably as big as your room, but it is filled with junk and my sports stuff. Not too much clothes in there. My room is my fantasy. How can I explain this room of mine? Well I can start by saying it is all about my favorite things, Science-Fiction and sports but I most of all love friendship. One of my walls is filled with pictures of all my friends and places I went with them. Then another wall is filled with a mural of werewolves, zombies and vampires. Then the last wall that has things on it is my sports wall. It is a mixture of pictures from all my favorite sports. Also on that wall I have a miniature basketball hoop which I shoot my laundry into then that laundry goes down to the laundry room.

It has been kind of weird lately because it was like I can read people's minds. It scares me a little. I just know what they are going to say before they say it.

I am leaving for Alaska now. My parents aren't even going to say goodbye to me. Our driver is taking me to the airport. But hey at least I get my own life from this point on. I am bringing the blanket with me though because it reminds me of my actual parents. It is like they are actually with me. I wonder what they meant by I can't throw it away until I am ready. But what should I be ready for? I may never know. But the answer could be right in front of me also. Who knows?
