The story so far:
First, Dwayne would make sure that Missy would meet him tonight. He called her cell phone and she answered on the first ring. "Missy this is Dwayne. The church has got Jim and they are holding him at the headquarters right now. I can get us in but it will take me a while to get to you." Dwayne took a breath but continued talking almost right away. "We can meet at the Gas-n-Grub truck stop on the highway at let's say midnight. Do you know where that is?" Missy was silent. She wasn't sure what to say. She then answered. "Yes I know where it is." She paused and then asked. "How am I supposed to know this isn't a trap?"
"You will just have to trust me. I give you my word it is not a trap and you don't have to worry because I can get us in without any trouble. I have a plan."
"Can you tell me more about what is happening to Jim?"
"I don't know too much except where they are keeping him. I'll explain more when we meet. See you there." Dwayne hung up without waiting to make sure she was going to meet him.
It was 11:11 pm. Dwayne stepped up to Joanna's house. He had replayed his plan over and over in his head. He was going to force her to let him and Joanna into the building and tie her up in her office. No one would find her in there until after noon the next day. She would be fine there. Jim, Missy and of course he would be long gone by then. He rang her door bell and she opened the door just as the bell went off. This took him by surprise. "What the hell are you doing here?" She yelled at him. "I.. I need to talk to you." Dwayne said almost stuttering, he was so nervous. "What would be so urgent that you would have to come to my house? Your could have called, you ****." Agitated, Joanna started to say "Well spit it..." When suddenly Dwayne's right fist hit her in the middle of her face. Joanna flew backwards in the air about five feet. The back of her head hit the marble floor of the foyer. Her limp body crumpled up on the floor as the scarlet blood pooled around her head creating a mystic halo. Dwayne just stood there stunned. He couldn't believe he had hit her, having never struck a woman before. He walked into her house and closed the door. He didn't think he would have to use actual violence, more hoping threats would suffice. Now scared that he might have really hurt her, panic set in when he reached down to see if she was okay. She didn't move. He tried to feel for a pulse on her wrist. Was it the outside of the wrist or the inside that you had to check? He felt nothing. Had he actually killed her? "****!" He couldn't tell if she was breathing either. He started to pick her up but then thought about what he was going to do now. How was he going to get Missy and himself into the building without Joanna. He needed her to put her finger on the pad to get the gate to open up. His thoughts were muddled. What now? He decided on what he had to do. He looked around the room. He walked into the kitchen, which was to the right, and opened the first drawer he saw. Knives off all sizes and in perfect order. Just what he wanted. He pulled out a cleaver knife, grabbed the kitchen towel on the counter, and walked back into the foyer. Joanna had not moved. He picked up her left hand, looking at her perfectly manicured nails. Extending her index finger out, he pushed her hand down on the floor and prepared to chop off her finger. He closed his eyes and cringed as he brought the cleaver down on her finger. He did it so hard that knife clanked against the marble. He snapped his eyes open and there was blood everywhere around her hand. Her finger lay at his feet. "Huh, that was easy," he said aloud. He picked it up and wrapped it in the kitchen towel. He looked around and spotted her purse on a table. He riffled through it and found her ID badge. He looked back at Joanna's body lying on the floor. His guilt would not stop him from completing what he had started. He closed the door behind him and headed to the truck stop.
Missy was waiting for him in the last booth along the wall. She had been staring at the blinking neon sign outside that said EAT HERE AND GET GAS! Dwayne startled her when he slid into the opposite seat. "So what's your plan?" She said as she looked at him. She then noticed the blood that was splattered on the cuffs and the front of his shirt. He saw her looking at his shirt and realized the blood for the first time. "I think I killed Joanna!" he said in response to the blood. Missy's jaw dropped. "What do you mean you killed Joanna?"
"I punched in the face and she hit her head pretty hard on the floor, then I cut off her finger." He said. "Why the hell did you cut off her finger? Did you really need a souvenir that much?" She made a grimacing face as she pictured him keeping her finger for many unknown reasons. He ignored her remark and answered seriously. "So we can get into the building. I know the code and have her badge too. We have to hurry though because others will start to arrive there at about six in the morning." Is it true you know security systems? he asked. "Yes I do, but I thought you said you can get us in." Missy said. "I can, but getting out is what worries me. " Dwayne replied. He was already sliding out of his seat and adjusting his jacket. "Well?" She looked up at him and sat there for a second. "Okay let's do this!"
It was easier to get in than Missy thought it would be. Dwayne used Joanna's finger, code and ID badge and everything opened right up. They went to the second floor and Dwayne pointed down the hall as they stepped off the elevator. "That is the way to the security panel. When I get Jim out of the room where he is being kept, an alarm will trip, and we will have only five minutes before lockdown to get out, unless you can disable the alarm. There is a clearing behind this building where we can meet up and get the hell out of this town." He turned to go in the other direction. He hollered behind him "Good luck!" and then disappeared around a corner. Missy almost started to follow him but then thought of what Jim would have done. She started running down the hallway looking for this panel. She was determined now to disable it and get the them all out.
