cops can be real ****  by marcusgregory

Zach didn't have time for this as he saw the flashing lights in his rear view.  It was late and he was tired.  He had had a long day at the office and had stopped off for a couple of beers and now he just wanted to get the hell home and to bed.

What had he done anyway?  He wasn't speeding and he knew he hadn't swerved.  There wasn't even another car on this stretch of road this late at night even if he was.  So why was this **** stopping him? Was it quota time of something or is this just how this guy gets off?

He pulled his BMW off to the side of the road as the police cruiser slowed to a stop behind him.

Zach fumbled through his wallet for his license and registration, hoping to hurry this thing along, and then waited.

It was nearly eleven and there was thick mist-like fog off which his headlights reflected.  It was one of those drizzly, cold fogs.  He looked in his rear view to see what was taking the cop so long and saw that he was just sitting there.  It didn't even look like he was doing anything, just looking straight ahead at Zach's car.

"What the hell?" Zach said with irritation.  "Let's get this over with, buddy.  I'd like to at least get some sleep before I have to get up again."

A few more long minutes passed as Zach waited, his patience growing thinner, when he heard the door of the cruiser behind him open.

"Finally, you dumb ****," he mumbled under his breath.

He could here the slow steady footfalls of the officer  getting closer as the soles of his boots worked into the gravel.  He watched the officer approach  in his side view mirror and then come to a stop just behind the door.  He lowered the window.

"Look officer, I really don't know what this is---"

"Step out of the car, sir." The officer commanded.

"Excuse me, is that really necessary?" Zach asked.

"I said step out of the car, sir." The officer repeated more insistently.

"This is **** ridiculous," Zach said heatedly, not caring whether this **** cop heard him or not, as he opened the door and got out.

A hard blow on the side of his Zach's head suddenly stunned him and sent him reeling to the gravel below.  His license and registration falling from his grip.  He lay there for a split second, struggling against unconsciousness, and then suddenly everything went black.
