How does the narrator know what the main character is thinking and feeling? We could ask the same thing about most books/stories, could we not?
I don't think you understood the story. The mysterious woman in the road is the best part. Where did she come from? Who is she? I left plenty of openings for new chapters. The baby was in the car the whole time and is the reason Jude was able to go on with her life after Archer dumped her. I purposely didn't talk about the baby until the end, as an opening for a new chapter. I'm not sure who you mean when you say you're not sure how "she" knew the baby was crying for its mother. The last sentence is told for the story's sake, not from the mother's pov, since she is obviously dead.

Thank you very much. I was watching a ghost story show on Discovery the other day and thought, 'How come we never hear celebrities say they've been haunted?' And the story evolved from that...it would be interesting if someone like Brad Pitt had a dead girl in love with him. ;)
