Jared's eyes were fixated on the woman's sweet features as she cradled his head in the crook of her arm. His vision was still blurry and began to slowly regain itself.

Bit by bit, Jared picked up the pieces with his sight. The dark-haired woman who just moments before seemed so sweet was now snarling down at him. Her teeth were jagged pebbles, speckled with dirt and possibly blood. Jared wondered if she was even human.

Suddenly, his vision went beyond the thing's head in order to scan his surroundings.  On the wall hung thick chains, various weapons and in some corner a noose swung slightly, almost beckoning. Jared was baffled. Could this be hell?

'Helen, get your dirty paws offa that boy!' A gritty voice yelled from somewhere in the room. In an instance, Jared's head slammed against the metal table he had been lying on. The mangy woman leapt out of view. 

A hand touched Jared's shoulder. Above him stood a giant silhoutte, blocking the overhead light with its bust. 

'We heard what you did. And I have to say we were quite impressed', the man growled with pride.

'I don't know what you're talking about.' Jared thought they must have the wrong man.
