"Free Falling"

Courage (draft)  by magikmom
I tried to shake off my mother’s voice as we entered the plane.  I was successful.

Here we went, my new spouse and I about to share an amazing act as we entered our life together.

Sky diving, one man's pleasure, another man's nightmare, my chance to face a fear.

Did I have the courage to pull it off?  One of my dear friends would have my head examined if she knew what I was doing this very minute.  But in my heart, I knew this was what we needed to do to create a lasting bond of trust. He looked into my blue eyes and I looked back into his dark coffee colored ones.  Yes he loves me, and I love him.  Frightened I may be, but I will do this for him.Bryan smiled, "Baby are you ready for the time of your life?""Yes - let's go for it" I repliedWe settled in as the plane taxied down the runway.  Our guides giving us one last run down on procedure and safety.Buckles fastened - and harnesses secured, the plane had finally reached the proper altitude.  The door opened.  The wind buffeted my face.  My helmet and goggles secure.  Bryan and his guide exited the plane first.  I watched them free fall for a time, then the chute opened, a rainbow of color hid my beloved from me.

Now it was my turn.

I was terrified and exhilarated at the same time.  I felt my guide take that final step and suddenly we were air born.  The feeling of falling alarming at first, then amazing.  I couldn’t believe I was actually sky diving.  But at this moment in time, I was happy I made the decision to do it.My guide yelled to brace myself as he was about to pull the ripcord that opened the chute.  I looked down to see Bryan’s rainbow chute below us, I couldn’t wait to get on the ground and tell him how happy I was that he talked me into this.Didn’t the guide say he was pulling the cord?  There was my mother’s voice again.
