Someday
Someday I’m going to get published
I’ll see my books on the shelves
I’ll sign so many copies that my hand goes numb
Someday
I’ll make that money and pay all of my bills
Granny will have a paid-off house and a box full of diamonds
Mom will have a jet and her own island
Dad will have a ranch so big it takes ten minutes to drive to the gate
Big brother will have a brand-new car and no debt to his name
Uncle will have the most bad-**** sound system known to God and a room full of CDs and two iPods
My best friend will have her mansion with a moat
My friends will all be set, I’d pay all their debt
I’d pay for school, start businesses, buy houses and cars, pay for trips and always pay at the bars
I’ll give it all away, make sure my work crew gets a bump in pay, make us all forget what it’s like to ‘make it to payday’
I’ll put ink on the page
They’ll put ink on the checks
I’ll tell them stories they won’t ever forget
Make them cry, make them laugh, make them scared, make them rage
I can do this all with just one page
So anyone who ever beat me down:
Get ready for my side of the story to be all over town
And anyone who ever picked me up needs to know I’ll be paying back everything
Every laugh, every smile, every ounce of love
Will be paid back beyond and above
So stop worrying, my loves, and get your mind right for today
The world needs to get ready for someday
