Dangerous Beauties: Origins  by kissthepony

In ancient scripture, there is mention of three underworld figures-the werewolf, a beast; the witch, a devil’s advocate; and the vampire, a ruler of the under dark, reigning much like the lion does under his title ‘King of the Jungle.’ Controversies often arise regarding vampiric culture, as each scribe uses different words and ways of describing things, built solely upon the principle of these creatures being out for blood. Other than that, it has been an age old discrepancy dating back to Vlad Dracul. The scribe of this story though, is yourself, for as you read you can interpret the meanings of words and understand the structure of this isolationist vampire clan. It, of course, owes it’s bloodlines to the ancient gods of old; some from Egypt, some from Romania, and some from in between.
The clan in this story owes it’s ties to Judas, the first of the vampires, as some scripture describes him. Hence, the staking of a vampire will only work if it is a stake made of Aspen Wood, from which Judas was hung. There he hung until the sunlight came, and with an agonizing scream, he was burned away. Yet, this was not before he had turned a few followers into vampires. It was they who started the initial clan, and began the fear that raced through humanity.
It was the fabled “Judas Chalice,” however, that brought about the soul enemy of the vampires, the werewolves. Though vampires were far more powerful than these beasts, and could, by their mind power, control them, the werewolves were still on an equal level of strength as the vampires, and so therefore could kill them if the vampire’s control of them grew weak. You see, it was a mortal, that had been bitten by a wolf and had become infected with rabies from it, that drank from the Judas Chalice, and hence became the predecessor for all the werewolves.
But two tales do not describe the third figure, the witch. In her own regard, the witch deserves a book all to herself, but perhaps there will be time for that later. Witches were merely pagans dealing with black magic, having little or no importance till “Meghann” came about. She, unknown to all, was actually the sister to Judas, but had escaped the torment that her brother had endured. By posing as the servant maid to Judas as he drank from the chalice, she was able to take a sip and become herself, immortal.
As the vampire’s magic was surpressed, Meghann began to be able to play off of it. It is well known that Vampires can shape shift and control weather, but with the suppression of these powers, Meghann managed to harvest them and manipulate them to do her bidding. When this was found out, the vampires and werewolves went into hiding.
You see, long ago, the werewolves were nothing more than slaves to the vampires, to work during the day. They did not think correctly, they were no more man than a slug, they had the brains of a slug, and really only the appearance of the werewolf. The first one, as afore mentioned, was stuck in the form of a wolf, and as the line got further diluted, the werewolves could take human form. Also, as the bloodlines got diluted as more and more slaves were taken, the werewolf grew stronger. It began as a slow trickle of intelligence, but by and by they began to break the chains of the vampires minds, and think for themselves. Knowing the torment they had been put under by the vampires, they rebelled and attacked.
As people began to shift residences, so did the vampires. Europe and Asia grew too crowded, and a large part of them were forced to move to the Americas. Here, the leader of the vampire clan, Connrad, bought a million acres of land and built his stronghold in this park. Like a disease, so came the werewolves. And so, Connrad built a wall surrounding his castle, with the toils of human labor. He compromised the vampire’s monster integrity by breeding sheep to be their blood. Only a group of elite vampires, hand selected from his followers, were allowed to go out and “recruit” new vampires.
Though there were times when Connrad himself longed for human blood, as many of his clansmen where turned by him. And so, he hung up his crown for a day, and snuck away into the night. He found his bride, a prostitute that went by Katrina. He impregnated her, and then he bit her. She went willingly, as she found it enticing the thought of living with Connrad for all eternity. As pregnancy’s go, Katrina’s was a slow one. Gestation was 50 years, as opposed to the average human’s nine months.
In that time, the werewolves had gathered strength, and tried to breach the castle wall. Connrad was killed in the battles that ensued. By the time the son was born, the world was a new place. Cars whizzed by on a road, and developers were trying to buy up the property that the werewolves and the vampires coveted. And though the vampires still held a grudge over the death of their leader, Connrad, and the werewolves held a grudge over their enslavement, there came a small group that felt that despite the tensions between the parties, there needed to be a compromise; some way that the two could keep on living without being seen by the general public, as you never knew who out there was an undead hunter. And so, this small band stole away, turning the acres into what appeared to be a national park.
It was not till the 1700s, well before the battle royale ensued between the two sects of immortality, that Meghann decided to explore America rather than be chased throughout Europe by angry mobs. She took residence in the woods, which she found homey, and toiled away with her magic.
After that, things seemed to be at peace. But more and more humans kept exploring, and more and more people kept disappearing as the werewolves saw fit to feast on fresh human blood. The vampires, in an effort to shield themselves from that desire, pooled their powers together to create a magical barrier around their stronghold. One that would protect them against light, one that would make the stronghold appear to just be another set of trees amongst the forest. By doing so, they lost much of their strength. They stopped teaching the young recruits of their magic abilities. The magic was henceforth, repressed.
Meghann, finding the vampire’s magic fascinating, worked out a way that she could feed off their energy and work as a medium for their powers when they were outside the stronghold…
The story begins here, as the vampire hype dies away. Cities have sprung up around the stronghold, and the vampires are never seen. Meghann toils away in her cave, helping whichever of the two immortals comes to her. Nonetheless, her cave is lined with silver and Aspen wood, in case any unfriendly beings come to chat with her. She has the gift of precognition, one thing that she had managed to scavenge from the remains of a vampire who had died in a werewolf attack, and foresaw the coming of a new age and a new line. And so here, we begin.
