Tower Power  by justhoff
Michael was a Green Spacer; he was there at the grand opening of Ronauldi Tower. He was watching the other side of the street very curiously as they moved slowly, monotonously. Peeking in and out from behind other heads was one he recognized, or thought he did. A glimpse of brown hair and dark glasses frames followed by a pointed nose hanging over a goatee.

As Michael watched his hanger grew - he couldn't believe that it was Dave he was seeing. Dave shouldn't have been on the side of Tower Power but there he was strolling among the crowd.

"Hey," Michael turned to Steve, on his right, as he spoke, "Isn't that Dave?"

"Where?" asked Steve.

"There." Michael pointed, index finger extended beyond half-closed fist.

A man near Dave saw this finger and lost control. He threw his sign violently to the ground. Its paint-stick handle exploded upon impact, sending one end into the crowd. Before the sign could rest on the cement, the man was charging towards Michael.

He saw this man as a blur, his movements were quick. This man was short and stocky - he looked like the bull he was imitating. Michael put up his hands to stop the rushing figure but he refused to see the signs. As he got closer Michael saw Dave running too. He was trying to catch the man.

Michael yelled, "Stop. Stop. Not you."

He waved his hands over his head, but this gesture went unnoticed. He saw the man's eyes were filled with rage. It could have been anyone to set him off, but Michael was the unlucky one.

He stretched his hands out in front to stop him, or at least slow him down. The man ran into Michael, sending him to the ground.

The crowd swarmed around them. Feet kicked against both bodies, as some tried to pull the man off of him. Quickly he was freed, but not before being struck twice ineffectively.

Dave was at Michael's feet. He offered a hand. Neither seemed to know what to say.
