After introducing ourselves the butler told the young lads to carry our luggage into the castle.
Carner and I had a weird feeling about it (too many horror movies).
“Don’t you think it was easy enough”, Carner whispered.
I ignored him but Casity did not.
“I guess the owner of this castle must be really kind, you know letting three strangers enter the castle”, her question was for Cadbury.
Cadbury gave a smile “you can say he had a heart of gold, he was kind alright too kind (he said that with a sigh of disappointment); he would never had said no to a visitor in need. His house was always opened for the needy”.
Carner, “Was!? You mean to say?”
Cadbury interrupted him, “Yes my master had left us many year before, it was a tragic story the way he died (he was almost in tears but he quickly got over himself and continued) well I better show you to your room you look tired, by the way where are you from, not around form here or you could had known better to go out in this rain”.
“I am sorry I asked you that…” Casity hadn’t complete her sentence, “it’s all right it is a fact that my master is not with me and I have to go on like this (this sounded really weird, I thought things could not get any weirder little did I know), there is nothing to apologize”.
Casity continued, “Ok, by the way we are from London, our flight landed today in the afternoon, we were on our way to Refside, due to bad weather condition our flight had to land at Meer Stad airport”.
“So are on your business trip or to spend your vacations”, asked Cadbury.
“That will be a business trip”, I answered.
We had entered the main castle and were now on our way up to the stairs.
“These are your rooms, you look tired rest a while diner will be served soon, Cadbury said pointing towards three doors.
We thanked him for his hospitality Carner and Casity headed towards their room while asked Cadbury that if they had a phone line. Cadbury apologized saying that the phone line was dead but there was a phone booth, I could make a call from (if the storm had not caused any trouble to our friend the phone booth).
The night was dark as it would never be day. The sky was fearsome. The angry sky was releasing its fury and showed no mercy. The storm was still at its peak. I was worried about Thomas he must have been waiting for us. I could not contact him as there was no reception from my cell phone. I waited for morning. I tired to comfort myself saying that Thomas himself told to take shelter in these conditions, as I was thinking about all this stuff there was a knock on my door.
“Come in”, I said.
It was one of the young lads we saw at the door with Cadbury.
“Sir Dinner is severed, please join us”, he requested.
“May I know your name lad”, I asked.
“I am called Jake”, he replied, “Jake Denis”.
“I see you speak English quite well”, I said trying to extend the conversation.
“Dank u, Cadbury though me, not every one knows English in this castle”, he said proudly.
“I’ll be down stairs in a minute”, I said.
I went down stairs to have dinner. When we came to the table there were only three chairs. We asked the rest of them to join us but they did not dare to eat with the guests.
“Wait a minute Jake told me to join us, right so why are you not joining us to dinner”, Carner asked.
Their answer was the same. This surprised me. The food was good, very tasty indeed. I asked Cadbury who is their cook.
“Her name is Udonna”, he answered “she has been our cook for a long time”, he added.
“Can you please call her”, I asked.
They quickly inquired, “Why sir is there something wrong with the dinner sir”.
“No, no”, I quickly replied, “Please just call her”.
Cadbury in a flash went and brought back the cook with him.
“Meister ist dort etwas falsch mit der Nahrung, nicht Sie mögen es”, Udonna asked in a worried tone. Cadbury translated, “she is asking if there is something wrong with the food and if you did not like it”.
“There is absolutely no problem with the food; the food was delicious, if you please come closer”.
She nervously walked up to me, “give me your had”, I told her.
She put her hand forward. I placed a fifty pound on her hand as a thank you, (in a way that she only felt it, but was not in vision, until she drew her hand gently backwards.
“Herr I kann nicht es annehmen”, when she realized she cried.
I did not need a translator to translate it, it was clear that she was not accepting my gift and she kept on denying my offering.
“Oh it’s nothing just a little thank you gift”, said Carner.
“Please do accept it as a present”, insisted Casity.
But she continuously refused to take it.
Cadbury entered the conversation and said, “She can not accept it master Trent, she is paid for her services”.
“But we are not paying her we just wanted to thank her”, said Casity.
But Udonna ashamedly said, “mein Dame ersparen Sie mir die Schande“, saying this she turned to Cadbury who gentle gave his head a shook.
I pressed on, “you are going to keep it”.
Thanking us for our kindness Udonna went back. After that we went to bed.
I eagerly waited morning. When finally the morning came I asked Cadbury if he could lead asked Cadbury if he could lead me too the phone booth he told me about.
“But sir breakfast will be ready soon”, he insisted me not to go without breakfast. But I told him that it was an important matter and that I had to attend to it now. Without any more arguments he led me to the phone booth.
He stood outside waiting for me while I went in the booth.
I dialed the numbers to Thomas’s cell phone.
After a few rings Thomas picked up, “hi Thomas you ok”, I asked.
