The story so far:
"The Meeting" -> "The Meeting - Page Two" -> "The Face in the Mirror" -> "The Meeting - Page Four / Face in Mirror pg Two"
Jack stood still a moment, looking at what used to be the shack but was now nothing, collecting his thoughts. How did they know? Was anything they did ever a secret, did they know about these meetings all along?
Jack glanced over at Henry, whom seem to be deep in his own thoughts and mumbling about something.
"Henry? HENRY?"
"W... What?"
"Do you have another mirror here, in the bathroom maybe?"
"Y...Y....Yes, but i... it doesn't work."
"Can't be." Jack thought. "It's just a mirror."
Jack ran to the bathroom and starred into the mirror, straight into his eyes, but Henry was right, it wasn't the same.
"Henry, can you take me to where you found the mirror?"
"Y...Y...Yes.. I..I.. Can."
"OK, here's what we are going to do. We're going to find the others and head out to the spot where you found the mirror and see if we can find anything else."
Jack knew to take extra causation this time, things were different, things were happening. The sun was just setting and it would be dark soon. He packed a bag of flashlights and other materials he thought may be needed and Henry packed a few of his gadgets and things as well.
Jack and Henry rushed out the side door and tried their best to stay clear. They traveled by through the back of homes instead of own the streets, Donna was their first stop, she was the closest.
Once there, Jack peered in through the back bedroom window. On one side, Jack could see that the tv was on, but not on any particular channel, it was just static, and to the other side, sitting at the foot of the bed was Donna, staring in a gaze at the tv set, rocking back and forth.
"I will obey. I will sacrifice myself." She chanted softly.
"Oh ****! They got to her Henry, they finally got to her." Henry said nothing and only watched as if studying the surroundings of the bedroom.
They tried the back door, it was unlocked. They walked in to the bedroom.
"Hey... Donna?" Jack was a bit afraid, and was almost expecting something tragic to happen again, but she seemed to just ignore him and only repeated the words she was saying, only louder.
"I WILL OBEY. I WILL SACRAFICE MYSELF. I WILL ASK NO QUESTIONS NOR FOLLOW MY HEART OR DESIRES."
Henry waved a hand in front of Donna but she was in too much of a trance to see. Henry began searching the room in search of something.
"What are you doing Henry?"
Henry was extremely intelligent, more than what people gave him credit for. Unfortunately, the effects of the drug had made him appear of lesser intelligence than the average person, but Jack knew who he was. He knew him before the drug got into his system, and knew that he was still smart, just his way of doing things had changed.
Henry grabbed a small chair that sat over by the desk, picked it up and with all his might, swung it into the television.
Sparks flew about and smoke seeped out through the cracks of the screen as the television flickered out.
"You could have just pressed the power button." Jack said.
"N.. No Jack. It w... w... wouldn't have been e...ee...enough." Henry looked over at Donna and Jack followed.
Donna had stopped chanting and sat quietly.
"How did you know Henry? How did you know it was the tv?"
Henry said nothing. Instead he slowly walked over to Donna and kneeled down to face her. She was still in a trance but had stopped chanting. Henry grabbed something out of their bag of supplies that they took with them.
It was one of his gadgets. It was small and looked to be the size of one of those pez dispensers. Henry held it to the right side of her ear, and spun the tiny wheel on the gadget with his thumb as it made a series of small clicks. He put it to her left ear and did the same.
Jack watched with a confused look on his face. Henry had totally lost him.
He then held the gadget in front of her eyes and a small bright flash came out of it, almost like Henry was performing a sort of magic trick. He put his hand on her shoulder.
"Donna." he said clearly and slowly without any stutters, almost as if speaking a magic word.
Her eyes focused on Henry and a tear fled from one of her eyes.
"How the hell does he do it." Jack thought, it had seemed to be such a simple gadget.
"What happened." she said finally.
"We thought you were gone, but Henry here brought you back."
Another tear fell slowly down her check before the rest came flowing.
"What is it Donna? What's wrong?"
"The rest are dead!" she finally said, in a quiet but raspy voice.
Jack gave her a moment to collect herself.
"What happened?"
"I.. I.. don't know. I just know they're dead! They're all dead!"
Jack thought for a moment. Had she just been brainwashed into believing that. Should they continue their search for the others or go straight to the site where Henry had first found the mirror.
That faint familiar smell came to Jack's nose once again, the same smell that was emitted from the Orbs. "Oh God, it's following us." Jack thought.
How was it that they were able to keep finding them. Jack put a hand to his head, he had still felt the pounding headache from the drug injection earlier. The side effect seemed to have lasted longer than before. Perhaps it was a newer mix, something that allowed them to be tracked.
Jack looked over at Henry hoping that he may have an idea of how to stop it, but had to focus on an escape before the Orbs came.
