"Chapter One: a photo worth a thousand words" -> "Objects in the Sand"

Convincing the Police  by jermccloud

"Listen kid, we get this kind of stuff all the time."  The officer behind the desk said, looking at the photos Jimmy took.

"You could have doctored these photos for all we know and this bullet is clean, got no figure prints, except your own."

"Please officer!"  Jimmy pleaded, "they're real, there's someone hurt or even dead right now and you're not going to do anything?!"

"Bring us back some hard evidence and we'll check into it." the officer said, almost laughing as he tossed the photo accross the table toward Jimmy.

Jimmy didn't say another word, just snatched the photo and the bullet from the table and walked out the door and onto the busy streets.  Not knowing why exactly, he turned and took a photo of the police station across the street and headed home.

Again, Jimmy studdied the photo, trying to find something that he may have missed.  He must have starred at it for an hour straight, but found nothing.  He looked at the time stamp that was embedded in the photo, "June 6th, 2008 - 7:23PM".   He looked at his watch, it was just now turning 6:00PM, Jimmy thought for a moment.

"Perhaps the killer will go back to the scene of the crime, to make sure that he hadn't missed anything."  Jimmy thought a little harder, something just didn't quite add up.

He's thoughts rambled on for a moment, "The woman looked to be alive in the photo, so the killer must have came back, saw that she was still alive, shot and moved her body.  That would explain why the ground looked undisturb, he may have missed the bullet.  With the girl not being dead in the first place, he was bound to come back again and make sure he didn't leave any evidence behind."

Jimmy grabbed his camera and his coat and headed for the beach once again.
