The story so far:
Alexandria gently ran her fingers over the puncture wounds and felt a strange heat radiate outward from the bite mark until her entire body felt flush. It felt as if her body was burning up, as if it was trying to change somehow, but before panic could once again set in, there was a loud crashing sound in the woods coming from directly in front of her. Instinct took over and as she turned to flee she stopped short when she spotted the animal on the other side of the clearing. It was the largest wolf she had ever seen. Not that she had seen any other than what was on the television, but this one looked as if it’s head could reach to her midsection easily.
It was a beautiful creature, she thought, and couldn’t help but stare. The wolf’s coat was silver with a black streak down its back and eyes bluer than the clearest ocean. As Alexandria stared into the wolf’s eyes she felt some sort of unexplained connection with the magnificent beast. She seemed just on the verge of an important recognition when the noises behind her got louder, which mean whatever it was, was getting closer.
The wolf growled low and she knew instinctively that it wasn’t directed at her, but at whatever it was in the woods. The wolf turned and started towards the trees, stopping long enough to glance back and wave its head towards the trees. Alexandria ran across the clearing towards the wolf just as the wolf turned and darted into the trees winding its way through the undergrowth and over fallen logs, stopping every so often to make sure Alexandria was still following.
Amazing, simply amazing, Alexandria thought to herself as she chased after her silver-haired wolf. She didn’t even hesitate as she ran through the trees. Her vision was clear and she had yet to grow tired. It was as if running through the woods was second nature to her and she no longer feared whatever had been behind them. She knew that whatever had been chasing them had not been able to keep up and now she just ran for the fun of the chase. The wolf was still faster and lighter on its feet than her, but it no longer had to pause and wait for her to catch sight of it before continuing.
After running for what seemed to be hours, the woods opened up into another clearing. This one however, had a small wood cabin in it with soft light coming through the curtains in the front window. As Alexandria came to a stop a few feet away from the wolf, the only sound she could hear was her own heavy breathing. The wolf padded over to her and nuzzled her hand with the top of his head before turning and running his rough tongue over the inside of her hand. The second his tongue met the palm of her hand, an intense heat spread through her for the second time that night. She wasn’t sure she wanted to analyze that sensation just yet. Getting turned on by a wolf’s tongue was not something she imagined herself doing.
She looked down at her wolf, her protector, and ran her hands over its head through the thick fur down its back and then back up to its head. When she stood up straight, it trotted off around the side of the cabin.
“I guess that means he’s off duty now….” Alexandria murmured to herself. As she turned to face the front of the cabin again she started forward, only to hesitate.
“It must be safe” She said to herself, “Otherwise he wouldn’t have led me here, would he?”
As she stepped onto the porch she noticed the baseball bat resting against the cabin wall and grabbed it up over one should as she reached for the door knob….
