Day Twenty-One  by honeygloom

My dying tomatoes are bothering me (I mean that literally; I’m dreaming about them). Since day nineteen I've watched both plants yellowing and withering like some kind of time lapse in a nature show. Each plant is heavy with curling, black spotted and yellow leaves. Must be some sort of plague. Like a doctor during the bubonic, my knowledge of this disease is limited. I imagine it has something to do with the whiteflies and pink aphids of earlier in the summer, but what to do about it? I have no clue. So I go medieval and hack off the diseased limbs. Perhaps I’ll bring back the whiteflies and let them suck the offending black bile from the plants.
