The next morning, Fiona wakes up disoriented, not knowing what day it is. After feeding the pets, she checks her calendar in the kitchen, trying to decide if today is Friday, Saturday or Sunday. She realizes it must be the weekend because she watched her favorite TV show last night, and it only appears on Friday nights. She narrows it down to two days, Saturday or Sunday? Which one? As she is playing her guessing game, the phone rings.
"Leloubelle, is your next assignment ready? I have more assignments for you."
"Yeah. Sure. I just emailed it to you. By the way, what day is it today?"
"Sunday, August 17th, Why?"
"Thanks. Oh, nothing, I just lost track of the days. Been working too hard on your assignments."
The Editor-In-Chief laughs, then says, "Maybe you need a vacation."
"Yeah. Maybe I do."
After she gets off the phone, Fiona checks her emails. It takes her all day to check all her emails, and it is now 6:00 PM. After taking a break from the computer screen and eating her dinner, she pops into her virtual reality world, straight to her loft and then the coffee shop. She meets a couple of annoying avatars who want to cybersex. She tells them that she isn't interested, and they leave. The next young guy seems laidback and bored. She takes him to her yacht, where they play hide and seek in the spacious boat as they try to find each other while he is touring it.
"Wow...Cool boat! Looks more like a cruise ship."
"Yeah. It is my relaxing vacation away from home and work."
"What do you do?"
"Writer and Art Director. You?"
They dance on the animated dance floor with animated lights flickering from the boat ceiling. They decide to lounge by the pool and jacuzzi, chatting light conversation for another two hours while enjoying the relaxing ocean and island scenery on their computer screens. The scene looks so meditative that they just sit there without chatting for a while, a long while. Fiona starts to feel drowsy as she checks her computer clock. She is shocked to notice that it is almost 3:00 AM. She decides to end this trip and go to sleep.
"It's getting late here....almost 3 AM. I'm getting tired. I'll see you some other time. Bye. Later."
She waves her right arm up before closing the computer window and ending her sailing retreat. She goes up to bed to sleep, thinking that this has got to stop. Her computer addiction. The other world. Her other life...all of the sudden, she slowly drifts off to sleep into her dreams.
