"Infinite Web, The charcoaled remains of the promised souls" -> "The Stogh: Year One"

stable housing or lower ground?  by demeonte

three souls popped into existence in the mountainious  regions at the center of the metal sphere. that had been traveling through space for little more then a day. the first of the three souls grew a rocky hide that was constantly changing from green to brown to tan. then its arms grew to ten feet in length and thirteen inchs thick. its body was snake like and its eyes were three different colors. "well, well, well, what od we have here? am i in heaven?" it asked no one in particular as it heard the thundering and mighty screech of the deathly huge sky flarn. "or do i seem to be in hell? in either case i must wait untill my other two comrades have formed so that way i and they may discuss a way to better our current predicament." after a while it folded its many jointed arms together until they were just a little over three feet in length. "this will do for now i suppose."

the second of the three souls developed wings and a nose like those of a tengu, a slender feminine body, a average bust size and a floating abdomen that seemed to end in five mechanical legs which could be joined to form  two legs and a tail that also double as a way to defend her self with. she had one complete arm and the other lookes like it was simply three orbs of lightning floating around a foot from each other. she had several eyes and no mouth of which she could be seen speaking from. "where am i now?" it said to the snake like creature. "and who are you?" the snake like creature bowed and simply stated, "just call me whatever you wish, and i will accept it as my actual name."

she smiled and then named him. "ill call you squigs." the snake creature nodded in aproval, "i like it. squigs it is! what might your name be?" the woman sighed and thought for a moment while the htird soul formed. "i guess you could call me cero?" "what a wonderful name! cero! it just simply rolls off my tounges! ooh! i have more then one!" squigs said excitedly.

the third soul chose a simple form that it could move easily and with out limit. the four arms could be stretched to almost thirty feet and the legs could be extended to four times there length while housing one hundred hidden turrets for every three feet of length. the body was simply a tenticle that house most of the internal organs. it had a single insectiod eye, which was all it really need to see everything it wanted to. "welcome!" squigs said in friendly tones. "i have no clue where we are currently located, but welcome none the less!" the creature said nothing at first, then slits opened up on both sides of its neck and tiny barbs shot out and embedded themselves in both squigs and ceros necks. 'i do beg yer pardon kind folks, but it would seem  that i am unable to communicate with you verbally, rather, i must commune with you with a shared mind link, of which i have established through the injection of the two barbs into your necks.' squigs was in pain, but not enough to fully feel any anger at his new friend.

'i feel that i must create a name for myself to better circumvent proper speech patters. call me slim.' cero smiled at slim and then noticed that they were just standing on a fifteen foot wide ledge. "i think its time we created some sort of more stable footing for our selves, since none of us can fly. what do you think squigs?" "i must say that i am more concerned with the ravenous creature that seems to be looking for a curent source of food. what of your self slim?" slims insectiod eyes looked around the area they were in and became quite nervous. 'i do beleive that under more acclimated situations, that we must find more stable footing, i might even go so far as to suggest traveling to the foot of this area.'

upon further discussion, it was decided that they would wait until more osuls arrived to this place, but before they could make any actual desicion on what they wanted to do, a new voice, a loud thundering voice that seemed to eminate from the very ground itself called to them.

"THE THREE PATHS YOU MUST TAKE ARE AT PRESENT, FULL OF DANGERS AND CHOICES TO THERE OWN. BUT, YOU ARE OF THE STOGH NOW, THIS IS YOUR HOME AND WHILE THERE ARE OTHERS THAT WILL ARRIVE TO YOUR LOCATION SHORTLY. YOU MUST BUILD HOMES THAT ARE STABLE ENOUGH TO SUIT EVEN THE LARGEST CREATURE. DEFEND YOURSELF AGAINST THE SKY FLARN WHICH APPEARS ONCE EVERY THREE YEARS, TO EITHER FEED OR SHARE ITS KNOWLEDGE OF THE AREA THAT YOU NOW INHABIT. OR HEAD TOWARDS LOWER GROUND TO WHERE IT IS INFINITELY FLAT WITH OUT ANY TRACE OF DANGER. KNOW THAT YOU, SQUIGS, CERO, AND SLIM, ARE THE LEADERS OF THE STOGH, AND YOU WILL BE IN CHARGE OF THE LIVES OF THE SOULS THAT WILL OCCUPY THIS PLACE!"

the voice was silent just as quickly as it had arrived, leaving the three to wonder what would be the best option.

'i will try to build homes that are stable enough for even the mightiest creature!'  slim told the other two.

"i will try to reason with the sky flarn!" cero said raising her lightning like arm in the air.

"and i will head towards the foot of the mountains!" squigs said nodded in acceptance.

and so they waitedd for the new souls to arrive. wondering what adventures they would son be having.
