chapter 10: the dreamers gaurd
by delmer
it had been two years since aneeh pushed morgan out of the window, two years since he and caasi had parted ways, two years since he lost control of the skeletal angels and they had fled from him, since then he had been fighting the rouge and the deom. and soon he became leader of the dreamers gaurd. but that had been over six years ago, and now he had been drafted into yet another war. this one more hellish then anything he couldve imagined.
"A le regno! Ricoverare le sogno, noi avere a lotta! METTERE A CARICO DI!" he said through his face plate, the deom numbering in the millions as his forces were placed all over the battlefield which spread across an asteriod belt. "show them no mercy! kill the human captains soul and his army! ASSALLTO!" The Humans, greatly outnumbered by the Rouge and the Deoms, fight like they've never fought before.
She turned in her sleep as her dreams and memories collided and mixed. "Morgan... Oh Morgan... Why did you do it?" She mumbled in her sleep, the events that took place four months ago still burned into her mind. "To save... The Sara di le Sogno... Dinastia... and that...is the divertente di le amuleto... good bye... Sara di le sogno.. dinastia.' and with that, the voice faded away, leaving only silence in its wake. she looked at his body still in the chair, still hunched over as his being started to crack, bits and peices falling off to reveal a hideos beast that looked as though it was built in a machine shop. "no... dont go morgan.." she turned in her sleep again as aneeh woke up and turned over to watch sarahs face, a tear falling from one of her eyes as she knew what they both went through that horrible day.
"ATTACK THE ROUGE DEOMS! soldier!" the leader shouted towards a young man of no more then twenty three, his scars showing the torment he went through in the waking world. "what is the status out there? i want a full report now!" a beam of yellow light shot through the ranks, peircing the captain through his heart, all though he acted like it was nothing, his words revealing otherwise. "damn it! ive been hit... well wouldnt be the first time. but whats the status out there gavin?" the soldier gave a full report in short terms as he attended to the captains wounds with what energy he had left in him. "weve lost troops seventy, fourtyfive, and twelve sire, the deom keep reappering whenever we kill four or five of them. to be honest sire, i dontk now how much longer we can keep going."
sarah eyes looked this way and that underneath her eyelids as aneeh worried what was going on in her friends mind. her temporary transformation into a deom had left her wondering whether of not it had all been a dream. "sarah... what are you dreaming about?" she asked silently, the clock to the side of her showing in dim numbers that it was three thirty five in the morning. "are you thinking about him again?" aneeh remembered how morgan had sacrificed himself at the last minute to protect the deom and sarah, kim and mike. how nordafet had only gone along with credion because he wanted to keep his sister in line.
the battlefield raged as explosions rang out like fireworks going off, both sides losing tramatic amounts of soldiers, the dreamers guard lead by the soul who had givien up his body in order to keep the beast inside him asleep. although for some reason unknown to him he had become a soldier when a new captain who never removed his face plate arrived and took command of the situation. morgan had been keeping silent about the beasts location even though as leader of the dreamers gaurd, he was sopposed to let everyone know about what he had gone through. "gavin... im not going to make it this time, i dont have enough fluid in me to sustain my form. ill come back tommorow night, at the moment i have to return to my body in the hospitals coma ward. i want you to take command in my absence. is that understood?" "but captain... i was in charge before you showed up, so i know how to handle this situation which you let get to this point. sir."
sarah mumbled again, her words loud enough for aneeh to understand them. "morgan... are you still alive in there? please wake up.. for me? for the college? for her... who'll tell me stupid jokes that will cheer me up, or tell me things and end up crying in the end? you need to get up please! morgan..." the months following the tragedy were filled both with grief and heart ache, as all who knew morgan tried to pick up the peices together. they had a meorial service for him, people spoke both the good times and the bad. aneeh even made sure there was a tree planted in honor of him. "morgan, your going to be late for class..." things in the a.s.b office were not the same after his passing, the jokes no longer as funny as they once were and work had slowed down because of it. "please wake up... dont be dead... you cant be dead... you promised me... and a gavin never breaks his word, remember? oh morgan..." sarah mumbled again. 'was he really that great a person?' naeeh asked silently as she got closer to sarah closing her eyes once again and trying to get some more sleep before the days events started. "morgan... oh morgan...why did you do it?"
the form of the captain melted away as the battle raged on, with morgan once more in command. "hey, get this out to the troops and gunners out there, i want three hundred thousand snipers, gunners, and archers to make a paremiter around this who battle feild, facing inward, and i want thirty bombers to constantly strafe and drop there loads into the enemies territory. i dont want any screw ups. tell them all to fire at will. this is going to get messy." "YES SIR!" the messenger running off to the nearestsnarkop device to get the word out quicker. "damn him. why did he let it get to this point?" morgan asked himself placing a hand on his face and feeling where the change into the beast first started happening. the last hting he remembered about that night was giving the beast an overload of his energy then everything going white. he remembered looking at the beast for the first time, how he and the beast fought with each other for what seemed to him like a year, when it was actualy only five seconds to the others present that day.
aneeh woke up with a yawn and took notice of the time, and with a short sigh began her day as the new a.s.b. president. she got dressed groggily and decided that sarah needed to sleep in to rest up. the days following wouldnt be easy for she or aneeh, but they had to be endured. when she left, sarah opened her yes and yawned slightly as she sat up in bed and wondered what was going through morgans mind that instant when the explosion took place. 'i could tell you... if you wanted.' she heard a ghostly voice say in her mind. "morgan? is that you? it cant be, your dead! is it really you?" only the silence answered her questions as she shook her head to wake herself up. "come girl, get ahold of yourself, youve got to get ready for the tennis tournament today." she assured her self it was only a dream and got up to face the day once again.
four days later the rouge deoms had been killed and the battle was over and done with. morgan didnt know how he did it with the captain constantly getting shot up and leaving him in charge, or the way that every once in a while he would try to make contact with sarah but lose his focus whenever the emitters placed around base camp broke down and he had to fix them. or the constant arguments over whether holding a battle against the deom in a setting like a asteroid belt was really the greatest course of action. but he managed to get the fighting over with. 'nordafet... how are you holding up?' he asked inwardly, the deom which was once an enemy to him and now a dear friend responded weakly. 'im doing a lot better then my sister had been doing. you still in recovery after what happened with the beast? how did you get through that any ways?'
"i keep wondering that myself, nordafet. i keep wondering that myself." the battle hadnt been over for five minutes before morgan and nordafet went to check inwardly on the condition of the beast. as intense as the fighting had been on the outside, and the signs that showed it, the fighting inside was even worse as the beast was always either awake and fighting to break loose once again and take control of morgan. though he had placed severe momement restraints on the beast to keep it in place and nordafet on guard duty, it had other ways of influencing him.
through out her day sarahs mind kept going back to what she heard that morning a couple of days ago. 'could that really have been him?' she and aneeh had been dating at clubs and resteraunts for a while now ever since the battle with the beast ended. 'i want to see him again... if only for an instant.' when they took his body away, the ambulance driver found a note in morgans left poket that stated, should anything happen to him, to give srah his gig bag and all the contents inside. which, as anyone could tell you, varied on anyday of the week. theo ne thing that was always in the bag however, was his guitar., which he affectionately named, "meiseoul."
while the troops cleaned up the dead, and tended to the wounded on both sides, the captain reappeared on the battle field again, his shift in the waking working. "well! it seems like you cleaned things up here pretty good nivag!" yeah, it only took me another four to five days, but i was sucessful in the area you werent sire." he said tenatively while nordafet sttod gaurd at the beasts prison inside morgans mind. the captain noticed the deom marking on morgans left eye and smirked. "you still have that creature with you dont you?" he only nodded instinctly as the captain walked back andforth, examining the battle plans for the next attack. "i recently got orders from the tip top... nivag... we all know what youve been through.." "thank you sire." 'why in the sanitered are you calling him sire?' nordafet asked without thinking. 'because, old friend. thats what the rest of the dreamers guard calls him.' morgan answered smiling as he did so. the captain, who was too busy looking at the pictures and thought vids regaurd the battle with the beast four months ago, continued on. "they have a special assignment for you nivag. the tip top wants you to guard someone from the past."
aneeh answered the phone quickly as she recognised the number. "youve reached the A.S.B, anneh speaking, how may i help you today?" there was silence, and aneeh could only hear the slight raspy voice she thought had long since passed away. "hello?" there was only silence again and the raspy breathing, but this timea voice spoke into the reciever, making aneeh yelp in surpise. "sarah... di le... sogno... dinastia... deom... battle with the beast... danger...sending.. back... nivag..." with that the dial tone resumed, leaving a be wildered aneeh a bit scared in her seat.
morgan sat in a chair aside a clear floating table, he was having an inward conversation with nordafet about how he brought the thought to be dead deom back to full health while the captain made his call. "hello? is this the sarah di le sogno dinastia? my name isnt important, the only inforamtion that you do need is that the rouge deom, are making a dangerous play for the beast. if this isnt her, could you let them know we are sending morgan nivag, back to the waking world to be the sogno dinastias gaurd? thank you." just then a tremor shook the entire base. "what in the great name of dinastia is going on here?" the captian shouted as another tremor, and yet another shook the base loose of the ground and shot straight into the air, and kept going for quite sometime before stopping. "NIVAG! WHERE ARE YOU? NIVAG? NIVAG!" the captians shouts and screams as to where the soul of nivag was. the beast had gotten loose of its binding and was reaking havoc outside of morgans mind.
