Core  by callawag

I awake like every day, hotter than hell and the most fitful sleep one can imagine.  It's no wonder my temperment fits the climate.  I don't know how long I've been here, I don't really know where here is.  The craggy, smoldering terrain has always been my bed, leastways that I can remember.  This day is like every other, I'm in search of another even remotely similar to me.  This is an interesting thought since it is difficult to discern what it is I am.  I feel that I may be closer to my goal as I recently discovered a pathway upward, as I have toiled on seemingly the same level.  As I ascend beyond my current plane, I notice the ground beneath my feet angrily fumes and sizzles at my touch.  Curious I think, since this never occurred in my only known home.  Is it me or just my surroundings not cooperating?
