masterful job!
Fave line: "The woman on the phone tells me she is impressed with my resume which I know is a lie."
I love this because it's so true in that industry, and the reference to "sorted and mostly made up misspelled words of my academic and professional career." is hilarious in its honesty, as those of us who have ever padded a resume know too well.

Bravo! Love it! And the last line? Foreshadowing at it's best! Do tell.......

Dude, this is soooo wicked! So cool and unusual!! Some comments:

I love the foreshadowing of "Before History doesn't really matter."
I love the slacker tone, the held-back info, the story hiding behind the story waiting to unfold. Marvelous.

Fave line: He would open his door with a satisfying snap of static discharge. LOL. Awesome.

And the description of History and Mr. Heston were wonderfully visual - I totally got a sense of both.

Also? The last line is GOLDEN. Reminds me a lot of Dean Koontz, actually, who's writing style I enjoy quite a bit when I'm in the mood for that sort of thing.

Excellent! Must leave now to read Chapter Two!!

Ha! So awesome! Reminds me of a story I heard on NPR once about great writers and their battle with the drink....one (and I'm embarrased I'm not sure of who it was, they interviewed his son) was writing a script for a movie but was in serious throes of alcoholism and decided to try and write sober. He suffered a horrendous writer's block, and convinced the studio to give him an advance and a paid apartment. His deadline was one month. He spent the entire month utterly drunk and wrote an amazing script which went on to be an amazing movie. I shall have to research, again embarrassed I don't remember who. But is it coincidence that for some of us our creative juices flow more so with an infusion of our preferred nectar? I think not. For some of us, it is just that way.
Wonderful writing!

Wow, thanks so much! Yeah, the beginning is a little slow, I sorta did that on purpose trying to set the scene so the ending would be more of a surprise. Glad you hung in there! I finished the draft for chapter 2 last night and will publish later today. Thanks again for the comment!
