The story so far:
"The Contractor" -> (4 skipped) -> "Decisions, Decisions" -> "Addition by Contraction"
Realizing it was a gun she stepped back into a stance she'd almost certainly learned in a women's self defense class. Marty imagined if he didn't say something soon she'd attempt some sort of takedown that she was much to small to accomplish. At least that's what they usually taught in those classes. Instead she aimed a swift kick below the belt. Marty managed to avoid the blow and nearly slipped on the gun as it fell from his pant leg.
"No. Wait. There are men after me. Please I need your help."
He knew from the look on her face that she didn't believe him. Then her expression changed and Marty noticed she was looking up the street.
He regained his sense of urgency as he heard the engine of the Explorer. He grabbed the gun from the ground and took off to the nearest house and ran through the gate.
His first thought was that he didn't want to get her involved. He quickly realized that it was too late. As he made it to the back yard he heard the tires screech to a halt accompanied by a thump and an ear piercing scream.
Circling the house he came out on the other side to a bloody scene. He saw one of the suits carrying the girl. Seeing the blood on the street at the front of the vehicle Marty gripped the gun and moved towards the explorer. He then noticed the body of the tiny dog next to the front tire.
As the suit tossed the girl in the back seat of the explorer he was greeted with a size six nike running shoe to the front of his face. It was a suprisingly strong kick coming from such a small frame. He stumbled back a few feet and Marty took this opening. He moved behind the suit and pistol whipped him in the back of his head.
The suit was down for the count. Marty patted him down to find the keys and his weapon. He ran around the Explorer and hopped in the driver's seat. As he got in the girl got out.
"Hey, Come on." Marty shouted to her. She looked at him for a moment then turned to run. Two steps up the street she saw three Explorers speeding around the corner. She quickly turned ran back and jumped into the passenger seat. Marty hesitated for a moment trying to take in what was happening.
"Drive!" she shouted. Marty pressed the pedal to the floor. As he pulled off the back tire thumped over the body of the small dog. The girl grimaced at the sound and started to cry.
Marty had never remembered a time before this that he hadn't known what to say. So he said the only thing he could think to say.
"Sorry."
