"Ode to a Muse" -> "I Know Love"

Love Convenient  by VictorMensa
How we look to the east, seeking out the new sun

Hoping to find true Love, to find the One

Curious, don’t you think, how we turn our heads away

From those who would give us their last living day?

All for the dream we manufactured

Uncaring of the hearts we carelessly fractured

Still, we fight the urge to share in their smile

We answer their pleas with refusals, denials

Shameless, we laud those that we ourselves would hold

Yet ignore the very hearts that would die for us out in the cold

Yet we don’t stop to think of the others

Thinking only of ourselves

Blinded by our egos in our self-made hells

We hear that one melody, that nostalgic song

That makes us pine for companionship

For all we want is to belong

Yet we turn a calloused eye to one that stands before us

Because they do not make our every moment rapturous and joyous

It is only after we have licked the very heels

Of another, like us, who knows not how to feel

Then we realize what we have done

For we have selfishly cast aside true love

For a convenient one
