The Real Life
by UnknownEntity
Adam sat on a bench in the woods. It was a hot summer day and the wind had been blowing gently for some time. Various trees : maples, larches and pines swayed around whispering a melody of existence. Things did not turn out very well for Adam : he had an easy life, at least in its material sense. One might say that preoccupation with ''abstract'' ideas is a characteristics of people detached from ''the real world.'' The protagonist knew that - in theory ; now he had to face this ephemeral construct : the real world. Wasn't he in it already? What is it all about ? Adam's parents were gone and it was time to take care of things now, many parts of life unconnected. He did hold an M.A. in linguistics...what about taxes, societal constraints, what about all the rest? Adam was a pragmatic person, yes, but there was just something scary in all of it...his personal spin on the world and ''the real world'' had to clash. There was no other way. And,my God, clash they did.
