The story so far:
"Captain?"
"Yes, Mr. Parker?"
"Are you planning on seeing her once you get on the island?"
"Heaven's no! I need a damn shave! Like the redhead said, I've got breadcrumbs in this nasty thing, probably worse things as well."
"Aye, Captain."
"That wasn't a good time to agree with me, Mr. Parker."
"Aye, captain."
I rolled my eyes and looked to the mountain. It's a good long walk to the top, but that’s the price to pay for well trusted insight on matters. The nymph knew everything about my problems, because all that plagues my vessel is the same constant threat, my father, and she knows more about him than I do. You see, my father doesn't approve of my lifestyle. In fact, if there is anything he absolutely loathes, its pirates, seeing as how he has spent his long lifetime to trying to eradicate them. I knew if I felt a bad thing coming, it's because of him.
We landed ashore the beach and began to set up our effects, mainly rum. Alcoholics, that's all we are.
I headed off towards the stream in the forest. It's where the path begins.
I took a quick bathe and a shave and began up the path.
Rhode is odd girl, old as can be, but doesn’t look over twenty. I, on the other hand, am younger, but look like an old dog. I guess that’s the perk to immortality, eternal youth comes attached.
I came to the top of the mountain and looked over the beautiful lake created by its dormant master.
“RHODE!” I yelled across the lake.
In the distance, the water began to bubble and as it did a head rose from below.
She began to swim in, keeping a display for her powers at a minimum. She loved life, being a goddess was a chore. She was one of them rose smelling people.
When she got to shore, she began to walk out, nude.
“Can you please put some clothes on? You know it’s me. I’m the only one who visits you.”
“Sorry.”
She stepped back into the water and emerged in a beautiful toga dress.
“What brings you here? Treasure, fleeing the armed forces of oppression? Tell me, I love your stories!”
“We’re holding some royal girls for ransom. Well, they’re kind of royal, royalish more like.”
“Is that all?”
“Well, truth be told. I’ve got a bad feeling. Like, my father is planning something a lot more life threatening in the works.”
She smiled, “He doesn't want you dead. He just wants you to give up this life you live. You can’t imagine how hard it was to be the protector of merchant ships at sea and one day seeing his son seizing merchant ships in the Mediterranean.”
“Which is why I went to the Caribbean.”
“And all he wants is for you to go back home and live the heroic life, like his mortal children always have.”
“I was born of a mortal woman, so I don’t have the advantage of immortality like he and you do, big sister. I have to live this life the way I am. I’ve got the feeling in my bones. Pirating is what I was born to do.”
“I have no plans on swaying your life. I just don’t believe father would kill you.”
“Can you please just check?”
“Fine.” She faced the lake, “Clear waters of the sleeping giant, tell me what fate does Lord Poseidon have in store for Jim Bleu, Captain of Poseidon’s Blade?”
The entire lake began to bubble, waves formed and became violent, Rhode began to shake as if possessed, and then it all stopped.
I waited for a moment.
“Well?”
She turned to look me directly in the eyes, “Fire covers the sea, blood will fill it, betrayal will run deep, you will live to fight it, and Davey Jones’s Locker is not far away, heed the warning, stay away from port!” she looked over my shoulder, “It begins now.”
I turned around to see flame filling the air and smoke bellowing high.
“MY SHIP!”
