Katherine was pretty excited about this Christmas production! She couldn’t wait. Every day at lunch and after school, she practiced singing ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ on the piano, practiced the performance of their version of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, practiced her performance with Jonathan singing ‘I Can’t Imagine Christmas Without You’, and practiced singing ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ with Jonathan, Eddie, Jackson and Erik. So far, they were making good progress. The first day of practice, they each recorded the songs sang in the production. Now, they were working on the dance routines. About half of the dance for ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ was memorized and they were doing it perfectly. The other half, well, may need some time.
“I’m just gonna keep on waiting underneath the mistletoe,” Eddie sang while dancing across the stage.
“I won’t make a list and send it to the North Pole for Saint Nick,” Jackson sang while following Jonathan across the stage, who was following Katherine.
“I won’t even stay awake to hear the magic reindeer clicks,” Jonathan sang while tossing his cane up by accident. “Oops!” The five of them stopped.
“Ok, ok, stop!” Miss Kyle said. “Jon, sweetie, don’t throw your cane over your shoulder, please!”
“Sorry,” Jonathan said.
“Its all right, dear! Now, let’s take it from the top!” Miss Kyle said. Katherine retook her position at the top of the left curved staircase and Jonathan, Eddie, Erik and Jackson took their place behind the closed door. “Ready, Miss Foster?” Katherine nodded. Miss Kyle hit the button on the radio and the music began.
“I don’t want a lot for Christmas. There is just one thing I need. I don’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree. I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know. Make my wish come true,” Katherine sang, moving down the stairs. One of the boys knocked on the door. Katherine opened it and resumed singing. “All I want for Christmas is you.” The music got a little faster, and Jonathan and Jackson took Katherine’s arm and danced across the stage with her.
“I don’t want a lot for Christmas. There is just one thing I need. I don’t care about the presents underneath the Christmas tree,” Jonathan sang from Katherine’s left.
“I don’t want to hang my stocking there upon the fireplace. Santa Claus won’t make me happy with a toy on Christmas day,” Jackson sang from Katherine’s right. They let go, grabbed their canes and pushed onto them as they danced with Katherine.
“I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know. Make my wish come true,” Katherine sang from between them, raising her arms above her head.
“Baby, all I want for Christmas is you,” they sang together. Katherine lowered her arms and pointed with both hands towards an invisible crowd. “You, baby!” All of a sudden, Erik popped out of a large Christmas present.
“I won’t ask for much this Christmas, I don’t even wish for snow,” he sang. Eddie hopped out of the large present next to it.
“I’m just gonna keep on waiting underneath the mistletoe,” he sang.
“I won’t make a list and send it to the North Pole for Saint Nick,” Jackson sang. The part where Jonathan last messed up was coming, and Jonathan was careful not to throw his cane in the air.
“I won’t even stay awake to hear the magic reindeer clicks,” Jonathan sang, now doing the right moves with his cane.
“Cause I want you here tonight, holding onto me so tight,” Erik sang, hopping out of the box and coming up on Katherine’s right.
“What more can I do,” Eddie sang, also hopping out of the box and arriving on Erik’s right.
“Baby, all I want for Christmas is you,” all five of them sang together in the center of the stage. “Ooh, baby!”
“All the lights are shining so brightly everywhere,” Erik sang, dancing to the front of the five. He danced back to his spot as Jonathan came up.
“And the sound of children’s laughter fills the air,” Jonathan sang. He danced back to his spot as Jackson came up.
“And everyone is singing. I hear those sleigh bells ringing,” Jackson sang. He danced back to his spot as Eddie came up.
“Santa, won’t you bring me the one I really need,” Eddie sang as the other three came up.
“Won’t you please bring my baby to me,” the boys sang. Katherine broke through them and they all scattered.
“Oh, I don’t want a lot this Christmas. This is all I’m asking for,” Katherine sang. Jonathan came up beside her.
“I just want to see my baby standing right outside my door,” Jonathan sang as the other three went to their spots around Katherine.
“I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know. Make my wish come true,” Katherine sang, again raising her arms above her head.
“All I want for Christmas is you,” the five of them sang as Katherine lowered her arms again. “You, baby!” Jonathan quickly swiped Katherine off her feet and spun around in a small circle with her.
“All I want for Christmas is you, baby,” Jonathan and Katherine sang together. Jonathan put her down and handed her his hat and cane as Eddie quickly popped up by her side.
“All I want for Christmas is you, baby,” Eddie and Katherine sang together, moving their canes from side to side. Eddie quickly moved away as Katherine tossed Jonathan his hat and cane. Jackson came up right behind her. Jackson grabbed her hands and spun her around.
“All I want for Christmas is you, baby,” Jackson and Katherine sang together, spinning around together. Jackson let go of her as Katherine spun into Erik’s arms.
“All I want for Christmas is you, baby,” Erik and Katherine sang together. The two of them took their places with the other three.
“All I want for Christmas is you, baby,” they all sang. Katherine picked up a handful of fake snow and tossed it into the air. Snow fluttered down all around them. “All I want for Christmas is you, baby.” They finally finished, striking into a pose. Miss Kyle clapped.
“Good! Good! You have it perfected! Great job, everyone! Take five and we will get to Jon’s duet with Kat!” she said. The five of them hopped off the stage and headed for the refreshments table.
